I don't own consoles, so PC, but for me, mods are what made Fallout 3 from a great game into one of my absolute favorite games. Anyone who has only played the console versions of Fallout 3, or who has only played the game without mods, is truly missing out.

If Fallout 4 is as moddable as it's predecessor was, then the clear choice would be the PC version for anyone who is capable of running it.

From your keyboard to mods ears.

I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate Bethesdas insistence that you only get one follower and maybe a dog or robot or horse as a side, modders always make it so you can have everyone follow you at once. I decide when I have too many followers.

That said, if my PC can't run it for one reason or another, then I would go PS4, I like its easy to use video capturing and screenshots, but so long as my PC holds up then that all of the way.

Given Bethesda's track record on Sony consoles, I'm hoping for a smooth PS4 launch since I only have a PS4 and a laptop, which is awful for most games currently. Played Fallout 3, New Vegas, Oblivion and Skyrim all on the 360 last gen and I don't plan on picking up an Xbox One.

PS4 is structured much differently than the PS3 was, so here's hoping.

What's the engine situation with Fallout 4? If it's still Gamebryo, hopefully it's been torn down and completely rebuilt or something entirely new since Skyrim because holy crap...put that baby out to pasture.

That shouldn't factor in this time, the problems on the previous generation were down to the PS3's split memory pool.

PS4 for me. I tried playing Bethesda games on PC and I spent more time modding those games than I actually did playing them. That was a fun mini game in and of itself, but I kinda want the pure experience first.

It's already available for pre-order on Steam.

I am unbelievably tempted to just drop the money now, but I'll wait it out for the E3 coverage/gameplay.

I'm a PC gamer, but I'm probably not getting it. I played Skyrim and found it pretty mediocre and vapid.

Ideally I would buy it on PS4, but I'm a bit cautious since both of Bethesda's Fallout games ran like trash on the PS3, but I hope that on new hardware they might make Fallout 4 run a bit better. If it doesn't work out, I do have an Xbox One too...

You don't have to mod the PC version, you know...

Mods have no appeal to me and I'd have to upgrade my PC to run it, so I'll stick with the PS4 version. Also, trophies!

...err, PC. Because I'm a hoarder that doesn't have time for weight limits.

That is, if they keep the console in the game. I mean, they more than likely will, but DAI removed all the fun commands that Origins had (though granted, that was a different company and series altogether).

I have both major consoles, but Bethesda games are always PC games for me. Their games live on for many years after release due to their robust modding scene. I still play Skyrim and it came out ages ago.

I find it increasingly strange that I'm one of the few people on this site that doesn't have a souped up gaming PC when everyone I know who plays games in real life all just have PS4s. I like the fact that I dropped 400 dollars and I never have to upgrade a system as just worry about games, that's comfortable for me.

As a side note, I'm really pissed I can't play XCOM 2 :(

I'll pick it up on PS4 when it launches and when the game of the year version is on steam during a holiday sale i'll probably rebuy it assuming i have upgraded my pc to a point where it looks visably better. I dont care about or use mods so the console version will do fine, played through the last two on 360 and it was fine.

Based on the way the new refund system works for pre-orders, you could just get a refund any time leading up to or 2 weeks after its release. Maybe the best part about them adding that policy is companies won't be able to release their game as a buggy, unfinished mess without losing a bunch of sales through refunds.

Still, waiting never hurt, especially when you're buying from an endless supply.

Now that I have a job again, I am hoping to save up enough to build a nice gaming PC before it comes out.

If that doesn't become the case, I will get for whichever console I decide to get later this year. If I end up getting both, I will wait to see which version is better.

Now that I have a laptop that can play practically everything, there is no reason to not get Fallout 4 on Steam at some point.

@falling_fast: Didn't Obsidian lose out on a big payday because their metacritic missed by 1% or something? It might have been in their contract, but I somehow doubt they're falling over themselves to work with Bethesda again.

I'm supposed to be getting a new PC this year. If that happens then that's where I'll play it. If not, I'll play it on Xbox One assuming that version isn't busted and/or runs like crap.

YES. I usually can't stand inventory and weight limits, thankfully that is nothing a console command or mod can't fix. Oh, and you can add equipment degradation to that as well.

I'll play it on PC. It'll likely be the nicest-running version, plus I prefer the KM+M controls for that sort of game. I did actually play both Fallout 3 and New Vegas originally on PS3 and loved them, but now I have access to a PC that can handle it I'll definitely take advantage of that. I'm not a huge modder in terms of adding content, but I did spend a lot of time tweaking Skyrim with visual, audio, and interface mods to improve the overall quality of the experience. It's cool to know that by the time I finish the game the world will likely be even prettier and more immersive than it was when I started out my journey.

I'm presuming, of course, that it'll feature Steam Workshop support. Perhaps this will be the time for paid mods too - hopefully they get it right, if that's the case. I realise that's no easy feat, but it seems like the obvious candidate to try it out again if they're still eager to implement the feature in some way. Regardless, I'd opt for PC even if I decide to just play the vanilla game (which would be more than enough for me).

PC. Same basic tech they've been running since Oblivion with some better bells and whistles, should run at 8 million frames per second. On the plus side pretty much any machine from the past few years should be able to run it well, shame the characters will still move like animatronic puppets from Chuck E Cheese.

I see no reason to play any game on a console, unless it is out exclusively for that console.

The correct answer is always PC. For everything.
