I got Counter Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source, Half Life 2 and all Half Life 1 engine games (including Counter Strike) For FREE. All these because my dad bought a video card :)
Best Game Deal you ever got.
In terms of sheer money to time spent ratio, probably StarCraft and Brood War for $20. Disregarding multiplayer games, probably RE4 for $20.
I traded my friend The Hobbit (for Gamecube) for his N64 with 2 controllers and 4 games (Paper Mario, Super Mario 64, Donkey Kong 64, and some crappy football game).
Mine were two.
I got Castlevania (PS2) and Castlevania: The Curse of Darkness each for 15 euros a while ago, when they were in the exact week earlier 60 euros each,
That was a great bought for me.
Also the resident evil 5 xbox edition, for the same price of the normal elite xbox with two games (Resident Evil 5 and Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD) was amazing.
"Dood, I got Big Rigs on eBay for 50 cents!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!"WHO WOULD SELL THAT GAME?!
To top THAT off...they had RapeLay on eBay for $1.00! A FUCKING DOLLAR!!!Greatest deals anyone could EVER find!
Lol, rapelay.
Dreamcast+2 Controllers+Tony Hawk 2+Memory Unit+RumblePack+Genesis+2 Controllers+Streets of Rage 2+ Sonic 2+NBA Jam=$35.
On just a game... NOLF1 and 2 for like $13.
If it was black labeled, that was a hell of a deal.
For me - The Orange Box, $10 bucks.
Best deal? Got Valve's whole back catalog of games (Half-life 1, Op4, Blue Shift, CS, and a plethora of their other old stuff) back when Steam first started, all for registering the CD key for my copy of Blue Shift that I bought on the cheap (in the realm of $15, I believe). That deal may not stand up today, but back then, it was one hell of a free game grab. Besides that, I've gotten a load of $5 games off Steam. My memory of how much I paid for older games is too fuzzy to really give any insight.
Orange Box for $15.
I got all of the PS1 Final Fantasy games for ~$40--I don't think that's such a good deal.
If you're classifying a deal as "bang for your buck", I'd day Chrono Cross for $40 which I've sunk hundreds of hours into.
By that same logic, Super Mario World was also worth every cent back in the day on Super.
Best fucking deal ever, brand new and sealed Marvel VS Capcom 2, £17.50. It had fallen down the back of a shelf in the store, and was no longer on the system so they had to sell it at second hand price, which hadnt been updated in years because they never get any copies. Epic dealio.
Also I got PGR3 for £3 and played it for ages for the price. I picked up a lot of fantastic dealios on PS2 RPGs while working at a second hand store, cheap prices + discount + cherry pick the best copy = spend spend spend bitch. Mustve spent half my wage packet every month, but I have every PS2 SMT game, both PS2 Disgaea's, Dark Cloud, Shadow of Memories and a fuckton more.
Also a box of 112 US Atari 2600 games for $100. + $60 shipping, thats less than $2 a cart, some of em are pretty good too, although all play in black and white cos of my euro Atari/TV
Edit: Oh and Orange Box on PC when it was weekend dealio for £5, although all I needed was Portal, TF2, and the updated game engine. Bought all the rest seperately.
Half Life 2 for 9 bucks for me has been a great deal, seeing as I very much like this game.
I also got Ninja Gaiden for the Xbox for about 7 bucks. I missed out on a good deal by not buying Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars for the SNES for a cheap price (cant remember, but it was cheap). Now that game is hideously rare, worth a lot more now.
I also got an original PS1 (the fat clunky one), Final Fantasy VIII, and a strategy guide for the game all for 10 bucks.
Persona 3: FES for $15.
a NES with 2 controllers, light gun, buncha random games and SMB3 for $10 at a garage sale. lasted me all throughout my childhood, and it still works today
" Final Fantasy Vii for free. "Same here, and mine is an original misprint copy. Those things fetch a few bucks online...
I traded some one at school a PS1 game (I can't even think of what it was) for Rival Schools. I also traded my PS1 that wasn't working for a Gameboy Pocket, the Gameboy Pocket had only been on the market for about 3 months.
I bought the Forza 2/MUA pack for the 360 for $14 with tax included.
went to go get starwars force unleashed when it just came out and there were none on shelves so I asked one best buy guy to see if they had it in the back I waited like one hour and the manger took half the price off because of the wait not only that I had a 10 dollar coupon. Other than that dark sector for 10 dollars was also a good deal and i was thinking of getting spiderman web of shadows for 20
Dead Space for $10
Lost Planet For $3
Banjo Kazoe: Nuts and Bolts + Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise + 360 controller $50
I found Xenogears (Which is an import title here in Europe) at the bottom of a barrel for a CD shop going out of sale for the equivalent of 20 bucks back when it was new.
Which was just awesome cause I'd bought an import of Parasite Eve earlier (Mainly for the FF8 video on the demo disc that came with it), but totally fell in love with the Xenogears demo.
To this day I still don't understand how some crappy CD store had an import copy of a rather sought after at the time game (This was before the second printing with the green cover)
Metal Gear Solid 3 for $3.00. It's not the later re-release with all the cool add-ons, but I was still pretty damn happy about it.
I just got Blazblue for $20 Used.
How? Gamestop had the wrong sticker on it, and they honored it.
so screw you Guitar Hero 3
" FFVII for $40. That was last October, I believe "It must hurt to see the game selling for only $10 on the PSN store.
I think my latest purchase was a pretty sweet deal. For a total of 23 euro + shipping I got the following games. They were all used but look brand new so I'm happy.
- Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2
- Rainbow Six: Vegas
- Rainbow Six: Vegas 2
