Call Of Duty Name Back On Modern Warfare 2

Makes sense to throw the CoD logo on there, more brand recognition and more sales as a result, even if those sales are coming from the mentally retarded folk.

I saw that update on Twitter but I failed to notice the "COD" title right there. I am sure I would have eventually but I was just struck that they stuck with the same artwork that was on Game Informer's cover. It is a great cover but usually the box art and magazine cover differentiate. Oh well, I am still buying this.

meh, the game's gonna be the same, and i'm 100% sure that this was Activisions call, not IW's.

Glad that's finally figured out. My 13 year old cousin was bragging to me the other day about how he knew Modern Warfare 2 wasn't going to have the Call of Duty name. Well I have a few things to say to him now.

I don't know if I'd want someone who cannot figure out that Modern Warfare 2 is the sequel to CoD4 playing my game. They might get too excited and go on a shooting rampage.

All I know is that my brother and his friend keep telling me how excited they are for COD 6.

I don't know a lot about the series but I thought that the prequel to this was best known as 'Call of Duty 4'. Won't it confuse most 'casual' people with the 'Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2' name? I guess anything that says Call of Duty at the beginning will sell a ton anyway so really I guess it was just in their best interests to get that name back.

Wow if the battle takes place partially on American soil I'm a lot more interested in this than I thought I was.  I didn't think they'd be able to do anything mind blowing or shocking as having your character die, but this would be a good step for that.  *EXCITE*

I figured they would do this. I mean lets be honest, Call of Duty has sooo much pull when it comes to consumers. It would be like taking Need for speed off a game title.

It's on the box, but I still think they'll refer to it exclusively as 'Modern Warfare 2'. 

Compare the prominence of the 'Call of Duty' on this one with the COD4 box.  I think they're treating it more like a brand marking now than part of the title.

COD or not, the cover art is seriously boring. I like they've continued the theme from the previous game but damn it lacks some attention.

Whatever. It was going to be a COD game no matter what.

I don't care about what the title of the game or the boxart entails.  I just can't wait to play this game!

Sure does look like the Capital dome, but there is more than one building with that type of dome. West Virginia capital building, and I think VA too. I'm thinking it's -the- capital dome though, why would they want West Virginia in a game? lol, box art looks cool though.

I'm not suprised they put call of duty on the box, there was that survey of (stupid) people that didn't know modern warfare 2 was actually Cod4 sequel and thus wouldn't buy it based on the name. So it's smart for IF to include it for THE(stupid) PEOPLE.

OMG, he decided to hold 2 boxes instead of three and that third one thats missing is the ps3, it must mean something important!

Or it could be nothing at all.

They didnt sell as many preorders as they would have liked so they changed the name.

I don't care about the Call of Duty branding or not anymore... I'll just refer it to Modern Warfare 2 or MW2. That boxart is ugly though. Hopefully they'll release a special edition or  a steelbook case with a better boxart.
