I love me a good night/dance club in a game. Afterlife from Mass Effect 2 is my favorite, just an incredible atmosphere with some great music. There are many others that I also love, but this is a favorite thread, so what's yours?
I have not gotten to the hive yet, still in Detroit, but I'm looking forward to it. Lucky money is another one of mine as well. Didn't the original Deus Ex have a few?
The music has to be just right I think as well. Like I didn't really enjoy Perfect Dark Zero, but the song in the nightclub still sticks in my head and causes me to remember the game fondly.
Just be careful that you don't look too hard at the people on the edges of the club. When you realize that they are literally static silhouettes that don't move, it totally kills the atmosphere.
Kane and Lynch: Dead Men. It was crowded and when the place broke out in a firefight it felt amazing just having to either shoot through people or trying to get them out of the way.
Yeah, ME2's is alright, but when I thought of Night Club though, I thought of Perfect Dark Zero and Goldeneye 007 (Wii). I love those ones. I also thought Deus Ex only 'cause you have that as your avatar and I remember that there is one in the game. One that I wish was better was the one that's in Halo Reach, if you don't remember, it's because it's not as good as it could have been. It looks nice, but you're only in it for a minute (maybe less), and there's no original techno-like music playing in it.
Up top, I added one of the (major) songs that play in each club, but for the full experience and the rest of the songs, you'd have to play each game, or look for a video of them on YouTube. I tried for a minute, but didn't find one that would suit this. Unfortunately, my best friend a few months back had to tell me that the song that plays in Goldeneye is one of the songs that play at Sears. I used to work at Sears, it wasn't a very good place to work at, and the songs were horrendous, but I guess I wasn't there when this came along, 'cause I love this one.
Anyways, yes I'm right there with you when it comes to night clubs and I love it when it's done right in a game. Oh, and the only reason that ME2's clubs are only alright, is because they have only OK music, and they're pretty small. I just think there are better ones in other games.
Totally forgot about the club in Goldeneye Wii. Great music, I don't know how it slipped my mind! I personally really like the Afterlife music though, at least on the main floor. But yeah, nightclubs are awesome, I know there's got to be more we're forgetting.
Well, although i haven't actually played Deus Ex: Human Revolution (getting my copy today, hopefully), I'll recommend The Hive as well. Come on people, it's a night club in a cyberpunk themed game like Deus Ex, of course it's gonna be awesome. Also, isn't it weird that we're actually talking about nightclubs in games instead of real nightclubs?
Not got to the night clubs in Deus Ex yet, but I do have a a real soft spot fot the Afterlife. It really felt like a proper club, and they even managed to get round the problem of video game clubs never feeling full enough. I really liked the scuzzy corridors. They really feel like somewhere you would sit and chat for ages on a pill and them come down a bit and realise you were sat in a big puddle of drink or something...
I always think of the club part in Streets of Rage 3 on the Genesis. It changed the gameplay up a little bit with all the strobe lights not lighting certains parts of the screen so you couldnt tell where guys were coming from. That one scene in The Dark Knight reminded me of that part where batman is beating up thugs in the club. Not exactly my favorite club in a game, but I thought it would be cool to mention it.
My favorite club in a game would have to be the clubs in The Ballad of Gay Tony.
