TO CLEAR IT UP: I pronounce puh-ligger-null the same way as puh-lig-a-null, so if you're saying the latter pick B.

Is it a cultural thing? I only ask because this Serious Sam spot reminded me that I've recently heard other people saying it the same way as that dude. I personally pronounce it puh-ligger-null, but maybe US denizens do it the other way.

EDIT: To further explain, I say it to sound like "diagonal" and I'm guessing American peeps don't say "dire-gonnal"... do they? Man, I'm sure this edit didn't clear anything up.

And I'm from Australia, which is the superior version of England (albeit built from inferior stock). I'd say that makes me righterer about the way English is spoked.

I actually looked it up, and puh-lig-a-null is the right pronunciation, which I find to be crap. By that logic, 3D games use puh-lig-uns.

LIGGERnul adds an R in the middle that shouldnt be there. Brits are so fond of adding Rs that aren't there. Like President Obamer. Damn Brits cant even speak their own language properly.

I suppose it's similar to some other languages like French in that a vowel ending a word directly preceding a vowel beginning a word gets an extra r thrown in there to help separate the words' sounds.

Examples:  President Obama was at the White House today.  President Obamer is at the White House today.

I suppose French does it with certain other letters like ones that are there but might not get pronounced otherwise; that's the gist of it though.  BTW, puh-ligg-uh-null is how I say it.

What the fuck is B.?  Holy crap, never knew someone could pronounce the word like that.  I pronounce it "polly-gonnal", probably because that's how the pronunciation resembles in French and Spanish.

Polygon and polygonal have emphases on different syllables.  Polygon is actually correctly pronounced (pa le gan) with a long "e" sound and two short "a"s.

That sounds much more like paladin than polygon. Also, it's a Greek word, right? Shouldn't it not be pronounced by English logic, then? I have no idea how that affects the argument, but damn it, it must be mentioned!

I'm not a Brit, if that's what you're inferring. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

The irony is that Americans overpronounce the R when speaking, and that's what's causing people to get confused with the way I say it. I, as an Australian, say "ligger" the exact same way I'd say "ligguh" or "liggah". Basically, the people who are saying puh-lig-a-nul (or any variant) are saying it the same way as I am, with allowance for their local dialect.

Intrego. I hadn't considered that. However, it is still entirely unnecessary in English. No need to call him Obamer.

Which seems more like a failure of the Australian accent than anything. Slurring different letters into the same sound leaves you with less options and more confusion when it comes to word choice.

Believe me, there's no confusion nor failure. We don't 'slur' (unless we're drunk, which is all of the time), we just have a different accent.

Ligger is spelled differently from Liggah, and failing to pronounce that distinction is (in my opinion) a failure in that it limits the effective range of speech. If a ligger is a big cat and a liggah is a beer stein and you want to tell me about a big cat that's coming my way, you're going to have a hell of a time doing so.

paul - e - gone - al
I live in California, everyone pronounces it like that here. I guess it's just a cultural thing.

EDIT - actually, on second thought, I think it's more like paul - e - go - nal. So, I guess that's inbetween A and B...I don't know...

SECOND EDIT - fuck, the more and more I say it over and over again, I can't tell which one is right/which one I usually say XD. I've never used the word since I took Geometry, I don't remember lol. You should just skip my post haha

THIRD EDIT - okay, I think B sounds right without the random R. pol - i - go - nal. Yeah, that's it. Sorry for my self conflicting post...
