You know, that might have been the case. Unfortunately, I can't remember who his opponent was. One punch was enough to defeat him/her.
It was Blob.
@fluxwavez: You're bet on Johnny Cage v Lipsyncher was amazing fyi.
@fluxwavez: Why are you so godlike at this?

Ha, well I'm not as great as I'd want to be. Went from $1.5 million earlier to 900k because of dumb decisions, but I'm climbing back...

This is truly the greatest sport of our time.
4) Did I mention how like 8/10 characters are obscure molestation Hentai girls (yet everyone in the chat knows them by name and loves them)?
Uh, what? What's wrong with you?
@boocreepyfootdoctor: I'll pitch my 2 cents based on these observations
1) I'm gonna disagree a bit here. Since starting to watch this last Saturday, there have been a lot of really good matches that go to round 5. Though with this games randomness, I have seen quite a large string of one sided fight after the other. You are right about some of the characters not doing jack squat, there are quite a few of those. Gimp character vs gimp character fights are something else.
2)This is the case as more and more fights happen and viewers remain watching, as we learn more about who is most likely better. If there is a slew of new people then the odds usually are more balanced, until they learn. Thankfully the guy in charge is constantly adding and taking away from his roster (which is huge), so some upsets can and have happened. Also, never bet on DBZ
3)This goes with #2, the longer the string of the same fights, the more people know what to throw money on. When new characters emerge, or rarely seen match ups happen, the odds get much more even, and quite a few people walk away with a lotta money, and even more go to the mines.
4) Um...well.....I'll say 7/10 are
5) Twitch chat is horrible and one of the worst
6) The engine allows the designer of the character to go as deep as they want, and some do. Though there are a lot of characters that only seem to have 3 moves and 2 frames of animation, there are also a huge amount that actually look like they were made for a good fighting game. Some do have fatalities too, it all depends on what the creator wanted when he/she made the character. The lowest quality characters I've seen are the Naruto and DBZ ones (though there are a few decent ones, very few)
@fluxwavez: I know right, how the hell do you not know their names?
Also what happened to your first place?

Chat is so stupid....need a Giantbomb only, casual chat. That twitch stuff is nonsense.

90% of the people watching just seem to shout "MY WAIFU" whenever some random anime girl is up next, so I have no idea why boocreepyfootdoctor thinks that everyone knows them all by heart.
Checked it out for a while, maybe spectated like thirty to forty matches, and came to these conclusions:
1) There are no balanced matches. Its 90% always one character who does nothing or whose attacks take scraps of their opponent, versus a Tyson Punch Out style super character. The other 10% are times when the loser manages to win one round on a fluke. Often, it is blatant based on size or history (say Ryu or Ken or Scorpion) that one character is probably most likely the winner.
2) Everybody seems to already know which character will win, even when its two obscure anime dudes that appear to be evenly matched. Say it were Godzilla vs T-Rex from Jurassic Park, everyone will bet Godzilla as if they've been watching long enough to know which character was designed to be a better performer.
3) That knowledge makes it impossible to make money, as risky bets are nearly 100% guaranteed to lose, and safe bets will only net you pennies on the dollar.
4) Did I mention how like 8/10 characters are obscure molestation Hentai girls (yet everyone in the chat knows them by name and loves them)?
5) Creepy. Chat. People. That. Can. Only. Say. "Nigger." "Fag." "Rape."
6) This fighing game engine isn't satisfying, its too low fi because even todays "2D" fighters have polygons and 3D camera introductions/poses/supers/victory-stances, and there aren't a lot of moves besides basic kicks and punches, or the occasional super combo where the screen ends up looking as crazy as a bullet hell shooter. No happy medium. And no fatalities or satisfying end to matches. Wishing someone did a site like this for WWF In Your House.
1. Honestly surprised you didn't see one balanced match in 30 to 40 matches. I've seen many a match that go on to 5 rounds, some that are real nail biters. You just got unlucky/didn't see enough.
2. Not true. The odds are even more than you would think, and because of the fighting system/unpredictable nature of the AI upsets happen all the time.
3. See above for why this is wrong. I've jumped from $25 (my minimum cash amount) to over $1000 on 5 round match that was incredible to watch. (Abui Vs. Plastic Man if anyone here saw that)
4. What? This just makes me think you have some sort of axe to grind, because this is a gross exaggeration and not even almost true.
5. Yeah...can't argue much here though. Twitch chat is pretty bad. Sometimes it's worth a chuckle when things get really nonsensical and they add to the craziness, but yeah. It's pretty bad.
6. It's MUGEN. It's the only engine where this is possible. The movesets are as elaborate as the characters are, some are quite impressive. But if that bothers you, oh well.
I can understand why the aggressive stupidity of Salty Bets might not be your cup of tea, but you speak in absolutes that are incorrect.

Sorry about that

Also, girl from an anime doesn't equal molestation hentai girl.
Don't associate my waifus with that smut.

1) I would say 50% are pretty much one sided, 35% are nail biters and the rest are upsets. Maybe it's because of the recent updates/modifications(?) but yesterday I was happy if I could make 3 bucks from a match and not lose all my money. And for the record, up to this point I saw more than 400 matches.
2) Even if you know the characters and their capabilities, that doesn't equal knowing how the match will go, that's where the upsets are coming from. Also, according to Jeff, there are more than 1300 characters.
3) Again, upsets.
4) As someone who has some knowledge when it comes to anime, I can confidently say: not even close to the truth. The "obscure molestation Hentai girls" you were talking about are not that common and most of them has nothing to do with hentai. When you see people in the chat say "Melty blood", they refer to the fighting game Melty Blood which is part of the Type-Moon universe (for example: Sailor Moon, maybe you heard of it.) The "OS-tans" as far as I can tell are original, fan made characters, the little girls who spam magic are from the Touhou franchise. What else... is there any other slightly creepy anime girls?
5) I don't like the chat either. Barely even looking at it. But I find it really funny when people go: I MADE A HUGE MISTAKE
6) If you are looking for a sophisticated fighting game, this isn't the right place I fear. This is a legitimate concern for sure but the simplicity of the engine doesn't takes away the excitement of betting on the matches.
Haven't seen it linked, so here is the fantastic timer scam by Duke from a few days ago. Quality stuff.
@vamino: That's pretty fantastic.
I'm glad to see that the steam is above 2k almost all of the time now, but that Twitch chat has kind of gone to shit.
@tajasaurus: I lost 20k on that Iron Man match. Then like a toolbox went all in on that (Sman) fight, and, well. Back to the salt mines!
@fluxwavez: Also what happened to your first place?
Series of mistakes, haha. I'm just glad I'm above 1 mil right now.
