I went with a custom character this time despite using default male shepard for every Mass Effect. I've always disliked how characters in these games look, except for squadmates. Post a picture of your creation!

I mean this in the least disparaging way possible but man that sure looks like a Mass Effect character.

I don't know how to screencap properly in Origin but here's something:

@zaccheus: yeah I couldn't figure it out, they changed it. I just print screen and pasted in photoshop. Ours are shockingly similar. I almost went with grey hair as well.

Just some very minor edits to a preset but I still like it.

The options are limited and that's probably a bummer to a lot of people but the more options you give me the more likely I am to ruin everything. Really just wanted better hair though.

Just like I did with the original Mass effect Trilogy I stuck with the default Male option.

Mr. Hollywood. If you imagine a generic attractive white guy, this is that guy. He's like a Ryan Reynolds/ Jake Gyllenhaal/ Jeremy Renner mix. I regret that I gave him a stupid neck tattoo. I can't remove it now!

I started to make a custom but then I just fell back on the default male Ryder. I started with the sentinel equivalent this time rather than the infiltrator equivalent that I chose in the trial, and I'm liking the combat a lot more. There's more flexibility when it comes to priming and detonating powers this time it feels like, so I've enjoyed being a "caster" hybrid between biotic and tech quite a bit.

As always I'm impressed by what people have made so far, especially given the limitations. These threads are always neat to see because I don't have the patience most of the time to dive deep into customizing.

Does anyone know how to view the character export that happened at the character creation?

I find it odd thats its a frontloaded feature in the game but theres not a word on it anywhere on the game website.

Anyways if i cant export that upload i cant access it since my 10hours have run out. My Ryder looks kinda like a Mexican spagetthi western villain.

@rethla: As I understand from the ingame text it's only a backup so if you start a new game (or play the probable sequel) you can download your character appearence. It's tied to your EA account.

@rethla: @zaccheus: It's supposed to backup your creation data to a database at Mass Effect Archives, a website where you can view and rate other creations. It is difficult to find and when I checked yesterday wasn't operational. It just has a non interactive splash page.

It's kind of weird that we made such a similar characters, black gray haired dad was super bad ass and I guess that made the beginning more effective since I really wanted to hang out with that guy...

I was so excited when I found out my Ryder could have blue hair so clearly that's what I went with.

@zaccheus: I actually usually pick the more sarcastic dialogue options for her, I think this is just a very serious/slightly menacing screencap I took ;)

Anyone know if you can change your face? I'm 15 hours in and i don't want to restart... but this default female is painfully bad.. so much so that it is taking away enjoyment from the game.

or maybe i can force the helmet to always be on or something.. :)

@zurv: You can definitely do the helmet thing in the gameplay settings, but I don't think there is any chance to change your face mid game. Just your clothes.

Little things like this is what is disappointing me the most with Mass Effect.

Pretty pleased with how mine turned out

I stuck with default male Ryder, because he's the only model that looked anything remotely like me. I tried to make small edits to the default but you can't. So rather than start from scratch on a dude who looks NOTHING like me I said fuck it.

Is there a way to get a PS4 screenshot onto my PC? Without connecting to Facebook, preferably.

She's loosely based on Sabine from Star Wars: Rebels; the CC limitations and my own limited skills made a more exact replica impossible. I'm pretty pleased with how she turned out though, so she's replaced my old Inquisitor from Dragon Age: Inquisition as my site avatar.

@sharpless I use a usb stick. Just plug it in, then go into your ps4 storage and copy it over.

@nightriff: I'd say a week and there is definitely going to be a way, it's probably going to be messy though.

@rinnowaru: Change the hair to orange and we basically have the same Ryder. Even the tattoo position.

You could always copy the screenshot from the PS4 Capture Gallery to a USB drive.

Sadly due to the limitations of the character creator most are going to look the same. Me and @kirkyxhave an almost identical Ryder. Mines better.

Someone tell me how the beard tech is in this game. Is it anything beyond a painted on texture?

(Also why didn't they just reuse the great character creator from DA: Inquistion!?)

I'm really liking some of the POC presets. I think the lack of customisation finally pushed me to playing an Asian main character this time around. At first I wasn't really into the first female preset, but after the trial I've warmed up to her. She doesn't look like a typical protagonist that is designed to be the most perfect looking person in a game. She just looks like a regular human. Same goes for my Asian twin.

Did you guys chance your Ryders name? I left it as Sara since that will probably bring some more nuance in conversations when people can use your first name.

I was tempted to name him Dick. I settled with my name.

I left it as Scott since they dont' say your first name otherwise and it gets confusing and weird when they call other ryders by their first name

Just wanted to point out that your Ryder is absolutely amazing!! Here is mine. After making her, I kind of get the feeling that I just made Ashley from the original Mass Effect.

@probablytuna: They look pretty good... How do they look animated? Less/more/as awkward as the defaults?

How are the animations on custom faces? The stock one looks too derpy for me (I miss my FemShep)
