Do you like metal?
I love metal. I love the local metal scene in my country, there's lots of talent.
I don't really pay attention to what subgenres I get into the most, but usually I listen to a lot of death metal, but I also have a softspot for technical deathmetal. One of my favorite bands are Meshuggah.

yup, although what you posted isn't entirely metal its at the point where the lines between metal and hardcore blur, but since I love hardcore too I can say that song's ok, not entirely my taste, but pretty good
the sort of stereotypical image of metal is really boring. the best metal bands are more infused with experimental noise qualities than they are with metal ones. Bands like Death Unit, Nadja and Government Alpha (more noise than metal, but the general aesthetic is still present) make pretty much every metal band listed here look even more like the pussies they are.
...pretty much if a metal band has a music video, they're not intense ...they're just douches.
Fuck yeah, die for metal! Gotta love the haters on this board, but there always are. But it's not a genre you can just jump into, especially the harder stuff. You have to train your ears to pick up the details that you're so used to ignoring with most music. I gotta say though, some of my faves are Children of Bodom, Lamb of God, Static-X, Disturbed and 3 Inches of Blood. Oh, and Judas Priest.
wow...so this is what, the 5th time in a month we've had this thread?
No, i deplore metal, I like some of the older stuff, but metal just sounds like a wall of noise to me, no hate, just honesty.
" @Jambones said:What? lol. It's all about the acid dinner jazz, son." Can't say I enjoy metal. I found myself enjoying music where I can hear the personality of the players and instruments--something that is spontaneous and not overtly produced and edited in a studio. "i lol'd "
" metal is like "DUNNANANAN DUNNANAANA GREAW GREAWWWW GRAGAGAGA" and then some dude is like "ROAAAA SATAN" and then the dummer is like "RATATATATATATATATA!!!!!!" as hard as he possibly can. nothankyou. i like ratatat though (lol) "Bravo, you just made the biggest generalization ever and it only applies to Black Metal. Great.
Anyways. I love Metal, I listen to a bunch of other genres (Dubstep, Hip Hop, Rock, Trance, Hardstyle, Hard Rock, ect...), but Metal has been my #1 genre since 2000.
It's great to see all the metalmongs upset with the generalisation when they're usually more than happy to dismiss electronic genres as 'not music' and enter into pissing contests about how much they hate emo.
Although in my opinion that stuff gets bogged down in how crammed with cheesey guitar harmonies it is. Prog metal is the shit, Sikth, Opeth, Mastodon to name a few very interesting and different bands. Dream Theater are awesome fun but go too far all the time.
Metal gets bad rep because it seems childish but there are just as many fantastic musicians playing metal today as in most any other genre. You just have to look for them. And understand what your looking for
It's as if one had eclectic taste! Unheard of!
Not hugely into emo, Brand New will probably be the closest of the wave of shit that's come from there over the last years that I've really, REALLY dug.
However, the emo and metal scenes are terrible. For all the yap about everything mainstream being conformist, you're gonna have to look a long way until you find scenes which are more hypocritical when it comes to this.
Oh lawdy, you better not show up in anything, but black!
I remember a few years ago my crew and I were at a Cannibal Corpse concert and my buddy wore a white blazer.
Seeing him trash around in the moshpit was amazing in that sea of long greasy hair and black.
