I'm the opposite of you. I just bought a year sub again. I have good vibes about the future of Giant Bomb.
Goodbye, Duders
You do realize that Vinny is not leaving the site right? The move could mean even more Vinny content, so I'm excited to see what comes of it.
I feel that you are selling the site short and are resistant to change. I think you don't understand that guys on the staff or use to be have personal lives to live. Dave and Vinny have their families to take care of. Patrick needed to be close to his family since his father passed away. It's been hard on everybody since Ryan passed away. Circumstances have changed and things will not be like the Whiskey Media days.
Giant Bomb still exists and I will stuck around to what they have next. For some folks, change is difficult and hard to accept. It's a transitional time but I feel that Giant Bomb is moving in positive direction. New people will get to join the group and the site will get opportunities to try new things. Have a little faith, everything will be all right.
I get where you're coming from, but these kinds of threads always seem strange to me. You know you can just stop coming to the site for a bit if you're getting bored and check back in a few weeks or so later right? Its not some thing where you can never come back once you stop looking at it for a week.
People keep saying that Vinny is leaving. Have they not noticed how much content Patrick started making after he moved to Chicago?
This pretty much sums it up. Since Patrick left he's kinda become a tour of force on the site especially for premium content users
To be fair, Patrick's a lot more driven than anybody else on the staff. The move most likely enabled what was already there.

This is key. Ideally, Vinny will have to deal with less of the stupid corporate crap (meetings, etc.) since he is away from the head office and will have more time for producing content. Just like how Patrick and Alex do, except it can now be combo Vinny/Alex stuff instead of only solo stuff.
Of course that is ideal. Whether that is what happens, we will have to see. But I am hopeful.
Vinny isn't leaving. He's going to help produce MORE content with Alex. How is that him leaving? It seems like you either misunderstood the moving plan or you are just looking for more reasons.
And you are basically saying you hate change. Which is fine to an extent. But this site was created by major changes happening. It's a dynamic site that thrives on change and innovation.
I think you're being slightly rash and writing off the whole site before you even see what it's going to look like with Vinny in New York and with some new blood.
Translation: I want attention.
He didn't take any shots at anybody, no need to get snarky.
Godspeed duder.

Is he or does he also have less other administrative responsibilities that allow him greater opportunity to do so?
Not to discredit the man's obviously strong drive, but my understanding of the office workflow was that also had the work load that let him be able to do that. A reason he was showing up in so many Quick Looks before he left for Chicago.
Jeff has to make all the big executive decisions/content direction for the site, Both He and Vinny have to attend copious meetings to get funding and basically continue to exist, Brad handles acquiring all the games, hardware, embargos and sets up meetings while Drew and Vinny pull a double roll of performing & producing/editing. While Ryan helped edit and edited the Podcast.
Besides investigating and writing (which is time consuming but is easier to stop and start if need be), I didn't think Patrick had a ridgid set of secondary responsibilities like the rest ( except for Alex I have zero idea what his workflow is like), although my guess is he found ways to chip in.
I'm sure there's a lot I don't know about what goes on there, but my guess is the guys work a lot harder than people suspect.
This site is still great and this community is awesome. That's all I will say.
Why is that all you will say?! What did we do wrong? Why wont you speak to us anymore?! YOU'RE TEARING THIS COMMUNITY APART WITH YOUR SILENCE YOU MONSTER!
Change is crazy, it can make you feel all sorts of weird, but it's not always for the worst or the better it's just different, I for one am looking forward to what's about to happen and seeing the new hires, I love the GB guys! But I didn't always love them because I didn't always know who they were. Just as I don't know who the new guy or gal will be, doesn't mean they wont turn out to be really great, and I think it's super silly to abandon a site you love without giving the change or new people a chance. Because here is the thing, it's going to happen, if you stay or go, it will happen. So why not stick around and see how it turns out. Or don't, the only loss in that case will be yours.
Phew
Anyone else saw the title and thought it was another suicide?
wait... ANOTHER suicide? What?
We've had a small handful of people use a forum thread as a suicide note over the past year or so. At least one person is still an active poster.
Don't tell me that's what happened to that guy who would always come up with the most random topics and polls? I feel really bad for not remembering his name.
Hopefully you're not referring to me (random topics and polls)... I'm still alive anyway and never wrote a suicide note.
I was the one reporting the thread to mods, but he's alive & fine anyway! http://www.giantbomb.com/forums/off-topic-31/thank-you-gb-1463526/

Man I do love reading some fresh bullshit about solutions to "temporary" problems.
I can sort of understand. I still plan on checking the site every couple of weeks as I do now, but I'm going to have to see some better premium content to justify renewing again. There's a definite lack of quality premium content. Which I completely understand is relative. I just don't find Jar Times and Q+A videos to be premium caliber. The only stuff I watch premium is UPF and the random videos Vinny does, which I sincerely hope he will keep doing.
Side note, who is going to be the cheerful person who still likes games that will sit in on quick looks? Because both Brad and Jeff almost seem to be done with excitement in games.
P.S. This isn't a "omg wtf happened to GiantBomb" post. Just hoping everything works out in the long run, I want to keep giving them my money.
I wish you the best of luck.
I've been listening to the podcast since Arrow Point Down, registered on the site day 1 and have been a paid subscriber since the first day it was available. This is the still the best video game site hands down on the internet. Ryan may be gone but his legacy lives on with the site he helped build, the great guys that he worked with and the awesome content and humor that the GiantBomb staff continue to produce. Vinny isn't leaving Giant Bomb and if anything will produce more content site for site and will be back with Jeff, Brad and Drew at various points.

Hizang? No, he got banned for linking to porn in the last day or two of the old site, when posts weren't going to be carried over.
