Bad comedies are the worst kind of bad movie to me, because with bad drama or action or whatever there can still be be some entertainment value ("The Room", for example). But bad comedy is just painful. And when a bad comedy is based on an unfunny, one-note SNL character(s) at makes it that much more painful.. Something like "A Night at the Roxbury" jumps to mind.

That's something I've always noticed...a movie that fails at being dramatic (or even one that fails at being scary) can often be very funny. "The Room" is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen, and unintentionally so.

When a movie's primary goal is to make you laugh, but doesn't...then it's fucking useless. It's more pathetic than anything, there's just no entertainment value. Lame jokes, and desperate attempts at gross-out humor make me cringe. Terrible dialogue and trite "drama," that stuff is often very very funny to me. But put that in a bad comedy, and, well...it's often even worse.

The problem with this question is that I've seen really bad movies in ever sense of the word. But the ones that I 'hate', the ones that really stick out to me as being truly bad movies are the ones that I had some sort of connection to before I saw them. Maybe I had read the original source material for the movie or the movie belonged in a franchise that I care for. But these movies aren't usually the 'worst' movies I've ever seen. I just really 'hate' them because they could have been so much more. The ones that come to mind are Indiana Jones 4, the Star Wars Prequels, Star Trek Insurrection, and Batman and Robin.

This topic is all about bad movies which YOU think are the worst personally. That is what the topic is about. Otherwise this topic would've either been filled with Troll 2 or The Room answers only with only a few people posting something completely different.

It's semantics. I just think worst and most disliked are two different things. Regardless, by your definition of 'worst' I've given my answers.

I hesitate to call anything the worst of all time but I was really bored when I watched the International and Inception in theater. I do own inception though, I should watch it again.

Hmmm. My enjoyment of movies depends on who I watch it with and my state of mind I guess.

For me it's Conan the Destroyer. Its still watchable and has a few laughably awesome scenes but it just isn't as oddly magical as the first one was... very disappointing.

Mike Bay's Armageddon holds a special place in my heart. I was in middle school when I first saw it, though it may have been my late elementary years. I think that just about everyone, when they're young, loves any flashy and fast paced. We don't know anything about quality writing or characters. We're in it for good stupid fun. Perhaps some of you were different, but I had pretty typical taste back then. Armageddon is the movie that really changed me. I was a boy scout, and our troop was going on a camping trip. Our scoutmaster's car had a DVD player inside, and so we watched a movie. The consensus was "Armageddon." I had never seen it, but I looked at the cover, and knew it had to be good. Bruce Willis is cool, Owen Wilson is funny, and it's about cool space stuff. How could anything go wrong? I hated the movie. I was only a child, but I recognized how utterly stupid everything in the movie is. From that day on, I had much more discerning tastes in film. Armageddon is really, really bad. Maybe it isn't the worst, but it opened my eyes to awful cinema.

Public Enemies. It's long, it's boring, it doesn't seem to have any particular artistic value, the cinematography has technical issues, it's long, and it's boring. If it was actively bad, then it would at least have some kind of entertainment value.

While I can see how there's audience for it, the original Paranormal Activity stands as the only movie I've ever fallen asleep during purely out of boredom.

I thought it was mindless fun however I see where you're coming from. It reminded me of the imagination games you play as a kid. Rawr I'm a tough guy we're gonna get guns and rope and fight bad guys and we're invincible!

That being said I have walked out of one movie in my life and that was Out to Sea. It had Jack Lemmon and Walter Mathau an I liked their other stuff but this movie was dogpoop. I also fell asleep in the theater during The Phantom Menace.

"Across the Universe" (2007) by Julie Taymor, the biggest whimsical hipster drivel garbage I've ever seen. And "Lovely Bones" (2009) I had no idea what that film was about, but I couldn't remember hating anything so much since Across the Universe.

Adam Sandler: Punch Drunk Love, odd movie but great.

Tim Burton isn't bad but overrated

My choice is Freddy Got Fingered and Talledega Knights

Both are ridiculously unfunny, I don't understand how I lasted longer with Freddy than Talledega as Talledega is just boring for me where Freddy is mind numbingly painful.

From recent memory, Battle Los Angeles, The Woman in Black, and The Phantom Menace come to mind. Probably not the worst, but extremely boring.

I've luckily only ever seen small parts of Epic Movie, but that's probably high on my list.

Yup, here's the winner.

I've watched tons and tons of crappy exploitation movies, shitty rom-coms and nonsensical film major art movies, but never have I sat in horror and felt so insulted by a movie. It was like it was shitting on my senses. I feel it is truly the worst movie ever. It's not as if they didn't have a budget to hire competent people to do the work. It's not like they were ruining a revered franchise like say Episode 1 or something did. They just decided to poop out the lowest common denominator of entertainment to the born lobotimized and serve it on a silver platter. AND IT FUCKING WORKED!

It's a racist, shoddy, non-sensical, unfunny, sickening mess of a movie and represents the pure nadir of cinema in my opinion.

I only define the worst movie on what I actually paid real money to go the cinema to see. On that basis, this easily tops that list:

No Caption Provided

I seriously wanted to hunt down Wesley Snipes like the South Park kids did with Mel Gibson. It was pure, unadulterated crap. I so wanted to walk out and groaned at every new scene, riddled with the worst acting and cliched tripe of a script. You cannot believe how much I hated this film. The only thibg that kept me there was it being a double feature with Starship Troopers - which actually erased the anger caused by Wesley.

Final Fantasy Spirits Within. I talked this movie up big time to a bunch of friends who have no clue what a final fantasy is. I walked out of the cinema with my head down, contemplating suicide and arson.

Either of the Fantastic Four movies, I don't know why I though the second would be better than the first. The first one probably edges the first for being so incredibly dull, at least in the second stuff happened, I think.

Twilight.

While other bad movies I've seen just get me to shake my head in disapproval, Twilight makes me want to inflict bodily harm to myself. Why I agreed to watch this piece of shit with my little sister a couple of years ago is beyond me.

Perhaps I didn't know what I was getting myself into.
