It doesn't seem like there's a lot added on top of Forza 3 here.
Forza Motorsport 4
Game » consists of 7 releases. Released Oct 11, 2011
The fourth installment of Turn 10's Motorsport racing franchise, released in Fall 2011. It features 16 player online races, dynamic race conditions, cars from over 80 manufacturers, and compatibility with Kinect, both on and off the racetrack.
So I Spent A Few Hours With Forza Motorsport 4...
Just bought Forza 3 yesterday so I'll probably won't pick up Forza 4 until the Ultimate Collection is released.
Yeah, the more Forza the better. Totally accurate and feels amazing. The menus always display a ton of information in the right areas so you don't feel overwhelmed. I've always felt that Forza has been the best racing game since Gran Turismo 3. There aren't many areas to improve on, so new features are great. There isn't a franchise out there that reached potential like Forza 3 did. While most games have areas to improve, Forza is damn near perfect.
My Amazon pre-order for the special edition is paid for. I'm just waiting for the chance to get back in to a great game.

Yeah, that 20 seconds of preview really shows the entire game.
I love racing games and the handling, tuning options and car selection in Forza 3 was great but the game aspect of it was really boring. Playing through the game in single player is hell, you spend the first hour on the same two tracks then you get to play another set of tracks for a few hours. After about ten hours of gameplay I raced on maybe ten different tracks (normal and reversed) and the goal was always the same: get first place. They have so few game modes in the Forza games, Dirt is a great example of how they can mix it up. I think I raced on even fewer tracks on Dirt but it changes modes and car classes all the time so it doesn't feel repetitive.

I bought both Forza 2 and 3 Collector's Editions, but this time I'll pass. So far all I've seen that is new is the Top Gear stuff and slightly more polished graphics. Maybe I'm missing something, but so far it seems more like Forza 3.5 than Forza 4.
Car clubs, improved physics, rivals mode, autovista, public custom lobbies, autocross, alternate time of day, 16 Player online, 12 cars on track in single player, and active aero. Plus new cars and tracks of course. There are also a bunch of little fixes such as backfire, improved photomode shots, better replay angles, proper cockpit lighting and FOV, improved audio effects, etc.
It's all the little things that add up to make a big difference.

It's a simulation racing game. You want excitement? Shut off assists, up the AI difficulty, and prepare yourself for some truly white knuckles racing. The whole point is improvement. Get out of your comfort zone.
I'm not sure why I bothered to read this preview, if I walked into a game shop and saw a box with Forza 4 in black bold times new roman on a plain white cover with a price of roughly £40 and I could be sure it was a genuine product I would give that man roughly £40 for that box.
In fact I suggest an edit of this preview:
Forza 4: It's real. It's Forza, It's out sometime in October.
I think that would be enough for us all.
When I say its same game, It is mostly same as Forza 3, then why release new title based on new graphics etc. Unless they want to turn these series in to quick cash in with yearly release...

It looks good but after a game like Driver SF, does just driving around a track for laps do it for anyone anymore?
Wow..
That's like asking if you want to go back to playing Madden after playing Jerry Rice and Nitus dog football...

They should really just let people import pictures instead of letting them spend dozens of hours constructing the Pringles guy, if at least for their own sanity.
The developers said they could easily do that but they actually appreciate the work that the game community does in creating these images. It's fun for the people who can do it and they are rewarded for their work by putting it in the auction house. Letting people import pictures would just ruin it for the people who are actually talented enough to accomplish that stuff the hard way.
Oh, is that their reason? I figured it was "Someone could just take a picture of their dick and put it on a car," but then I would be like, "But that dude's going to put his dick on that car whether you make it easy for him or not," but oh well.
It's in part that of course but then again, like you said, they can make a dick with shapes if they want too right now lol.
No the real reason is because if they use shapes like they do right now you are essentialy making vector graphics instead of bitmaps (if you would upload a picture) which means you can easily scale it and modifiy it. The decal will look as good if you use it on a Mini or an Hummer.
Oh and using shapes is also like 1/10 of the size of the bitmap equivelent so you have a lot less stuff to transfer while doing storefront or online races.
I'm really curious to read/hear what Drew thinks about it, his experience with driving games really makes me want to see if it's a good game for both crowds (driving enthusiasts - other)
FTA "Considering how many different ways you can earn credits in Forza, the whole car token thing seems a little silly."
Mostly I agree with that statement however there have been times in Forza 3 where I didnt have a specific car in a specific class and it would have taken hours to gain the credits needed to buy it in game. I would spend under a hundred points to save myself some time in that case BUT only if I was very very far into the game. Im talking like 20 hours into the game here. I want to earn everything I can but once ive stopped playing the game daily then I dont mind cheating a bit. I played Forza 3 every day for almost a year. I have the Forza 3 limited edition leather seat with wheel mount...omg heaven lol!
@avidwriter: Driving around a track has much more purpose then free riding in some random SA city. Putting in the fastest lap time with pure racing, is the most awesome thing....... in the world! And we can never have enough Jeremy Clarkson!
Forza 3 probably took up 100 hours of my time, and 4 looks like it will probably do the same.... ya!
Damn, I was hoping he got to try out the Kinect head tracking thing.
I know it sounds stupid, but the whole time I played Forza 3 I was thinking "god dammit why can't I look out my window?!". It's like they catered specifically to me haha
@avidwriter: Yes. Yes it does. Different game play types for different types of gamers. This is sim at it's finest. Driver is not even in the same ballpark, gameplay-wise.
They had a booth with this game set up at Eurogamer and it had been shoved in the corner and seemed to be largely ignored by most of the people there. I walked past it several times over the course of the two days I was there and there was always a console free and no queue to play. Seems weird considering the level of hype for this game. Maybe the marketing just hasn't kicked in properly yet?

Europe/UK is Gran Turismo territory.

That sounds a lot like how Forza 4 was handled at PAX Prime: old demo and nothing fancy at the booth. Maybe they're assuming that no one at these kind of expos is interested in racing sims.
Kind of mindboggling, as far as I'm concerned. Then again, I'm a bit biased on the matter.

I'm No Gran Turismo fan and from europe, always prefered Forza because it had one thing over GT and that was damage modelling. Give me Forza over GT anyday. with the exception of F1.
