A Bit Better now, but Still Needs TLC...
- Graphically the title looks pretty good, nothing superbly astounding, but it hits the mark. The vehicles looks sharp, and well detailed, I found the attack helo to be probably one of my favorite designs.
Audio:
- Audio is hit, and miss, one PC with fully updated Creative X-Fi drivers and cooresponding X-Fi card for some reasons has no audio. Where as another one has onboard, and no issues. So be at your own risk there. After a couple patches a few of the issues were fixed, but there are still some noted issues when it comes to sound.
Gameplay:
**Singleplayer:
- What stands for a a Singleplayer campaign is far more than what was offered in BF2142, which is not too bad. There is a story, it is slow and progressive . It almost felt like a familiarity course, to introduce new users. I liked it.
**Multiplayer:
- Expectations were high for me to follow suit with the likes of BF2, BF2142, Desert Combat, and many other good vehicle-centric titles. I was so wrong, there is very little in the way of good, solid maps, or for that matter stability.
- The weapons in this game are heavily skewed in the level of usage in this title,The Nade launcher is used pretty much by everyone, and the RC's follow suit. The shotgun is pretty much useless, and all the other weapons use are pretty spotty.
- The stability of the multiplayer servers are not without their own issues on my Intel Q6600 with 3GB RAM, and ATI HD3870 have had a plethora of problems since the initial release of the title. There have been fixes to rectify the issues, unfortunately its taken awhile to get up to the standards I expected.
Additional Thoughts:
- The main issue, and concern of this game is the lack of attention to detail, and all of the titles unforgiving issues. What may look good on paper, and what thus far has been offerd in support from KAOS Studios and THQ is one thing. Paying for incomplete, and in some cases non-working is completely something else. The customer base did not deserve to have something like this released to them. I have been a fan of THQ's titles, now I am very wary of what they accept on there box from here on in
- I alway felt if something is sold to the public for consumption then it should work properly for a huge majority of users. I am mre than willing at a later date and time to re-review, but KAOS and THQ really have to get cracking on something that should've done to start with.
