I won't ever buy maps for the multiplayer counterpart of a game. It's a bit pointless. Look at the CoD Mappacks, I've never bought them, and still played the vanilla version and i've never seen any difference in the player base.

Yes, I'm getting the season pass. I played Gears 2 into the dirt. The extra maps are playable in beast, horde and offline local multiplayer with bots instead of people. So, even if online multiplayer ain't your thing there is still plenty of fun to be had with a variety of new maps. Paying up front is a discount. If you bought it piece meal you'd over pay. Of course it all depends on how much time you foresee spending on Gears 3. I foresee many hours with that game in my disc tray.

I may depending on whether my new daughter allows me to play a game for more than 30 minutes without having a meltdown. I was a hardcore Rift player, then she came along and I am scared to even login lol. We'll see though, still stoked for GoW3 and I'll take a couple of minutes here and there of play if that's all I get, but if I get more, season pass seems reasonable.

@left4doof: My bad, I was under the impression that this was the same as the Season Ticket BS from EA. But the Season Pass for Gears 3 does get you content instead of a discount on DLC. But I'm still not buying it, not until I'm convinced that Gears 3 MP is interesting enough to play for a couple of months.

forgot to add that i got it i think is a very fair deal for DLC which will add to the game. plus they have said that there will be significant single player components to the DLC which to me is well worth the price. hell i pay whiskey media $50 dollars a year for what some would argue is much less content i wouldn't agree with them but they could make the argument. So it all comes down to what your willing to pay for nothing more, nothing less.

I still don't see how you're saving money with this. It's $30 for the pass and you'll be getting a discount of 33% off the dlc, assuming the dlc will be $15 that's $5 off each one and with 4 installments of dlc you'll only be saving $20 which means you'll be losing money since you paid $30 for the pass. Can anyone make sense of this to me, I've played a ton of gears and am thinking of getting the dlc, but this just seems weird.

It just means that if you bought each map pack individually over the course of the year it would cost 33% more in total. This is a one off payment for all the maps.

Yes, I will get it. Gears 2 had plenty of DLC that I enjoyed. I can expect to enjoy all of Gears 3 DLC as well.

Either buy the season pass to get all the content for $30 or buy all the DLC individually which will add up to $45.

No. I'm not really playing Gears of War 3 for the multiplayer, so getting a bunch of map packs is just not for me.

Gears 3 DLC will be for MP stuff, right? I know this will probably sound blasphemous but I'm not an MP guy. I don't even enjoy Horde mode that much. I won't be buying the DLC if that's the case.

Have at it, though. Apparently Gears MP is really fun.

No I didn't, that thing is extra and has its own deal of paying so much for the entire bundle of skins.

i dunno yet, depends how addicted i get to the game, if it becomes my "go to" multiplayer game, then sure i probably will, but if its just another game i play, then probably not.

@Metal_Mills: Fair enough but there is still time to wait on getting the season pass. It will be more clear what the lineup is once the DLC in November is detailed. I'm more inclined to believe that the content is more substantial because the weapons skins have been bundled together into another thing instead of being grouped into this season pass stuff.

@left4doof: It's the only skin pack announced in that, the rest have all been been bundled together for a group price or you can buy them separately.

@RobotHamster: None of those. If you were to buy every dlc pack separately you would pay 45 dollars if you buy the pass for 30 dollars you get all the dlc.

This was posted awhile ago on Cliff Bleszinski twitter:

"Season pass pre-buys 4 upcoming DLCs for G3 at a discount. Content will be more than just mp maps; expect more campaign. (not cut content)"

The main campaign IS finished on the disc, but additional story elements will take place on Sera. He mentioned that the extra content is stuff they are building now, and it won’t be sections cut from the original game.

Will I be buying the DLC? Most likely.

Ahh, if I'm still into buying maps and such when they come out, I'll buy them then. I played enough BF:BC2 that I would have gotten value from a season pass type thing, but no other online games really keep me playing long and deep enough to bother. GoW3 is fun so far, but I'm not going to buy in this far in advance.

Looking like I'll be playing Gears 3 multiplayer for a while. New Skins are always nice. Campaign DLC is the best thing ever.
