GamePolitics.com posted a story that includes comments from Epic's own Ron Fergusson, who is making it clear that they are planning to ban the people who spoiled Gears Of War 3 from playing the game online.

Here's a snippet from the story:

"We have a banning system built into our stuff so we can go in and identify certain people," he said. "Some people aren't smart about what they do. They'll be disappointed on 20th September when they can't get in and can't play. They may be banned."

Fergusson added that those individuals who shared campaign spoiler videos were "going against everything we're trying to accomplish."

"We had one of my video chats and somebody went into the chat room and tried to yell all caps spoilers throughout the chat room to try to ruin the experience for the thousand people who were watching me. It's that kind of stuff that just drives me crazy. If you don't value this community, you don't value this experience, then we don't value you. I'd rather pick that one bad apple out of the pool so everybody else can have a better time."

Thoughts? Concerns? Were you one of the people who leaked spoiler videos and other info online? Be afraid, I guess!

I'm alright with that, I know the pain of having a game spoiled. And it's not like people do this for more than just being dicks.

That you can get banned from a game due to actions taken entirely outside the game is complete bullshit.

Seems fair, if you ruin the experience for others Epic should ruin the experience for you.

I hate spoilers as much as the next guy, but c'mon... it's Gears. Their idea of emotional impact in GoW2 doesn't fill me with hope for the merits of 3's story. 

I'm pretty damn sure that this would not be legal. They are basically taking away game content people payed for because they don't like them.

Im okay with this, i dont mind the odd spolier here and there but when people go out of their way to totally destory you experiance and ruin any suprises you might encounter, they deserve all they get. Thats the one thing i hate about this generation of gamers, for every genuine fan there are 5 12 year old kids ready to make your experiance really crappy.

People who post spoilers deserve to hang.

Is this being done as punishment for violating an NDA?  If not it's BS and they are being petty.  If so, I still think it's harsh, and I'm a little surprised Microsoft would let them do that.  Since isn't Gears played over Xbox Live?

Ive been searching online myself. There's only one I found (its big) but overall, I haven't found much of anything.

Epic either removed them all, or its proof Gears doesn't really have that much of a story. I think its the former.

While I don't care about the Gears story myself I am sure there are people who do and it sucks that it was spoiled for them. As for whether or not this would be legal, it's my impression that if Epic is providing the hosting for the multiplayer, then they can ban whoever they want for whatever reason they want. It might be a bad PR move, but I can't see it being illegal.

Spolier: You shoot dudes and there is some bullshit ending that points to a new game, most likely a spinoff.
