i completed the campaign well over a year ago but thought id shar my thoughts....

I thought it was mega crap...

It does some good things, great characters and a decent plot.  I just played through Gears 2, it was good but it wasn't nearly what some of my friends had made it out to be. Nothing to start a forum topic about.

I recently finished campaign on insane, almost 1 and a half year after I finished the campaign for the first time. It was still pretty epic

What I liked about your post is the word "game" repeated thrice. Every time on the end of the sentence. Two times out of three it was used completely unnecessary.

It was fun... But there are a crap load of games that are a lot better.

Gear's story was a fucking joke but I guess the solid gameplay allowed you to forget all the crap. But to recall it as great is just delusional.

I really didn't think the original campaign was that great. I never enjoyed it all that much. It had a couple awesome moments, like the Berserker, but all in all, I can't say I was ever that impressed nor understood why people loved the game so much. I do, however, think Gears of War 2's campaign is pretty darn awesome.

The first Gears or the second? Gears 1 had a terrible Campaign, Gears 2 was awesome...but not the best

Gears of War's campaign was actually rather bad. However, Gears of War 2's campaign managed to kick itself up a notch and do a pretty damn awesome job of continuing the storyline of Delta Squad. It's nowhere near the best, but still awesome.

I thought the campaign gameplay was great. The storytelling is garbage, but it plays wonderfully. It has great pacing, solid combat, and it doesn't overstay its welcome. I actually just completed it for a third time recently and had fun doing it.

I liked the bit where you hid behind the thing and shot that monster.  That was ace.

It was fun for a month, there was nothing wrong with the story, its just that there was no other way to tackle the missions.

The story was bare bones but what was there was appropriate for an action game. The campaign was a lot of fun with co-op but I don't know about "the best ever".

I love love love the Gears campaigns they are so fun. The first one was great but the second one was amazing, it's also crazy how different the enemies are in both games. It's crazy how the scrapped so many awesome enemies from the first game and replaced them with even better ones.

I really liked it, played it coop on insanity. Awesome
