First let me state that I am fully pumped for this game and can't wait to bash some fucking heads in and see their brains drip out their skulls. I want to fuck beautiful women and thrush my manhood inside them while I get my blades and slit the stomaches of monsters to watch their insides leak out.   I'm going grab a bull by it's horn, and pull it out, only to jam it down his fucking throat.
 
However, I recently downgraded from the Ultimate Edition to the normal edition for a couple reasons:
 
1.  90% of content is digital.
2.  OST are all digital.
3.  Challange Rooms will be DLC down the road (more than likely).
4.  I don't give a fuck about artbooks.
5.  I'd rather fuck a moose than have that box the game comes with.
 
So, chances are I'll get all the albums off iTunes and watch the documentray on YouTube and I can just download it from there in HD anyway.  Plus, I don't care about the artbook and think that box is just silly, and just want the game.  
 
Did I make the right choice and saved $40?  I have no other games to buy in March (I already beat FF13), and BC2 is too steep for me and I feel betrayed after what shit MW2 was...so I'm holding off on that.

I say don't waste your money. Personally I never see a point in the "special" editions. It's the same game either way.

I'd say in general not getting special editions is the right choice.

LE's are never worth it, except for GTA IV.  It has been the most useful one yet.

I'm getting the Ultimate Edition as it is (up to now) the only way of getting the first two in HD. Plus even if the extra content is going to be DLC I'll already have it. The CE of Dragon Age was also cheaper than buying all the DLC separately.

I don't know the ultimate edition has completley sold out and might be rare as a collectors Item (the Box and artbook) 

Kaos, get the GoW collection and then GoW 3, that's what i've done, far cheaper and you'll only be playing the game at the end of the day...

If you're saving money, it's a good choice.  You could put that $40 toward another game on your wishlist.

Collectors editions are rarely worth it.  Blazblue was the last worthwhile one that I remember

Ya ce's are usually a waste of money.  Go buy yakuza 3 with the money you save here by not buying the gow 3 ce

Yeah, I think you made the right decision for yourself.

I'd say you made the right choice.  I have yet to see a modern game that was worth that much without being included in a bundle of plastic instruments.  Given the amount of time it took for me to stop seeing piles of those Halo 3 Cat Helmet editions at the local Gamestop and Best Buy, I'd also say I'm not alone in this.

Most of the content minus the artbook will most likely be on PSN and the itunes music store for the soundtrack. You made the right choice in my opinion the regular edition is what i got today as well.

Save even more money and rent it. I finished it in under six hours and won't be playing through it again.
