I've been saying that for years. GTA: Blade Runner would be the greatest game ever made.

I haven't started GTA IV yet. Still clocking Fallout 3 (104 hours into it now).

Eventually maybe Rockstar can expand on GTA IV like they did GTA 3 and add in some of the crazy stuff people want to see and go all out like they did with San Andreas.  It'll be interesting to see where they go from here.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them announce a new one due out Q4, but I'd be very surprised to see it come out this year. It'll get pushed back.

All I want to hear is "this has a story as good as GTA4" and I'm in. 

I could care less about open worlds.  Sandboxes are boring.  Give me a compelling single player experience and I'm there. 

GTA4 was the game that made 'sandbox' style games relevant to me, and I want more in that direction.

I've wanted a GTA set in Tokyo. I always thought that would be cool. some other possible locations I would like to see would be:

• Shanghai
• London
• Paris
• Monaco
• Italy
• Hawaii

This makes me think of the blue screen scene in Wayne's World. "Or imagine, being magically whisped away to..."
But yeah, Toky-MFing-o.

It could happen. Vice City came out a year after GTA 3 and they already have the engine up and running so it wouldn't be hard to get another GTA out in a little over a year.

I'm rooting for GTA to move to Wichita.  Can you imagine the tagline?  "Become Joe Bob, scourge of corn fields, as he searches for love amongst his cousins!"  Ahhh, good old controversy.

Tokyo would be cool indeed, but please make it more exciting than GTA IV.  Make it more over the top with jetpacks, aircraft, and tanks!

How about London?  I know its been done before but with this new GTA style, it would be great. I dont want to be running around Tokyo with assholes that like to drift all the way to the grocery store.

That reminds me of that game that got cacelled a while back for 360.  I forgot the name but it was basically GTA meets Syndicate.  It was a From Software game and the videos that were shown were pretty bad.

What about L.A. Noir?  That's been floating around for some time at Rockstar.

I doubt a Blade Runner knockoff would be it, it's too cool an idea and would need to be a true licensed game to be worthy.  London seems like the obvious choice since going somewhere that doesn't speak English is a pretty big gamble considering that North America is the primary consumer that will make up the bulk of sales.  They could go all Guy Ritchie and get Jason Statham to do the voice.  I think we're far enough from the smoking carcass of The Getaway that it won't feel like it's been done before.

As for the chumps that thought GTA IV was weak and missed the over-the-top crazy stuff like jet packs and planes, play Saints' Row 2, it took over for that amount of craziness.  I respect Rockstar for growing up and making GTA respectable.  You can have violence, sex, and crime and do it with class and tell a good story.  If GTA IV was just a flashier San Andreas, I'd wager it would have done worse and been far less likely to have gotten the critical praise it has gotten in its current form.

Wow, I didn't finish GTAIV til the end of November...granted I was doing other stuff...anyway, I'd like to see GTA Chicago. Except slightly in the future after that badass spire is built.

How about GTA New orleans, where it takes place after Katrina, and you're involved in all these dealings to steal TVs and money from flooded banks. It would be cool if you had to swim through water and stuff, and fight sharks or something...

Just an Idea

To all those who want to keep the limited scope, I think you need to realize it doesn't need to be either nuts or very serious like GTA IV was.  Rockstar can find a balance.

And the location also needs to be somewhat exotic.  Why would they ever set it in a city like Detroit or Chicago?  They'd need to manufacture a fake city and then it wouldn't really be different enough from Liberty City in the end to warrant the trouble.

I might become interested in a GTA game again if it were set in Tokyo, Paris or London. Though instead of London they could probably set it in all of the United Kingdom, which would be pretty cool.

Lets hope so. The more GTA I get the better. :P

Personally, I wouldn't mind a 'IV' version of Vice City.

I'd rather see something completely different done with the new engine (and with the old one ported to Wii), but I expect that they wouldn't be called 'Grand Theft Auto' if they strayed into the 'future' or otherwise off on a tangent.

Anyway - I think that all of these ideas can be made into great games - bring it on!

BTW: I've just registered, but I've been dipping in and out of here for a while  - It's excellent to see the TALENT from Gamespot has moved over here after all of the BS. You guys were the reason I used to read the site.
