This is from the resent game informer article, leaked a week early, lots of info in the article, I'll post a link a bit later.

The first Elite shown looks awesome, the second one looks, well odd.

I have to say, I am feeling more and more iffy on Halo 4 with every new piece of info that comes out about it, it all looks strange as hell to me.

Looks like the first mission you are on the Forward Unto Dawn, you are awoken by Cortana and informed that the ship has hostile intruders aboard, they are Covenant, Cheif makes a comment after fighting a roaring Elite in an elevator shaft that it is odd because the Covenant and Humans are supposed to have stopped fighting, he then looks outside to see that their ship is floating through a large Covenant fleet, near the Forunner world.

Spartan Ops sounds cool, you fight in an ongoing campaign, each week a new Cut scene and four new missions for you and three other players to play together against the AI, it is the new Firefight.

Also it has been said that the new primary enemies in the series are much different from the Covenant they are more organized, dangrenous and not just new skins, the first mission is classic Halo to get people back into it, after that they start to mix things up, new enemies and the like, it is going to be the largest sandbox change in Halo history.

I love the Covenant, they are a huge reason why I love Halo, so for me I am very happy that they are returning, and also happy that we have new stuff to fight as well.

So long as Elites and the covenant aren't the enemy, I'm not completely turned off this game yet. It could still be interesting.

joining a game in progress? that sucks. I hate doing that in MW. Joining a game almost over is lame. Halo always was the better option because it wouldnt let people just come out of nowhere and mess up a match you were already in. *sigh* microsoft is already warfaring this game up. Halo is cool cause its halo.

It did finish the fight, it completely ended that story. They never said it would be the absolute end of the series though and it obviously was never going to be.

I agree though, I've been a big fan of the series, but for me, it ended with the third game. Reach served as a nice prequel, but I just don't care to see more Halo now. I might have been excited if they'd waited a few more years and brought it back with the new Xbox.

Nothing past Halo 2 has managed to grip me. That game was great at the time, still my favourite set of maps. I don't really like the jetpack stuff that seems to be coming back here.

As a PS3 owner, Halo is probably the one series I am jealous of.

Is there anyone older than...let's say, 27...that even cares about Halo?

went downhill after halo 2 for me, this does look like a nice graphical update though.

i'll give it a go if i hear the single player is good.

Why the fuck does every single multiplayer these days have to include an "unlock" system? Bah! Halo 3 was fantastic, Quake 3 was fantastic, Battlefield 1943 was fantastic, and none of these had any multiplayer unlocks at all. You played it, you got better, you enjoyed it, and you did all that because it was good, not because you'd been tricked into a damn skinner box.

Yeah, I don't rant about missing the good ol' days much, I get to do it here. But really, I think it would be so much better if they everyone got a jetpack and a sprint button and let us have at it with guns laying about the map instead of locked into a loadout or whatever. All these games seem to be congealing into the same thing with a slightly different coat of paint.

Sounds like they're adding some stuff that has been needed in a Halo game for a while. The randomly spawning weapons stuff does sound cool and as does the spec-ops mode thing.

Wow, 343 Industries, you guys are really mixing up the franchise and bringing your own unique take to the series. Fuck this noise. I'm out. They had a chance to do a 'Stranger In A Strange Land' tale, completely fucking flip the mythology on it's head and what it's known for, and make it this lonely, inward Journey for the chief and Cortana.

If that was the DMR I am so happy. I thought it was getting taken out and was really bummed because that's by far my favorite Halo weapon ever.

I feel this way too. I really wish I could play it. I loved Halo 1 and had fond memories of the multiplayer of Halo 2. I played and beat 3 at a friends house it was OK. I really want to play Reach and ODST. (I know a lot of people don't really care for ODST but everything I've seen about it seems to like click with me.)

Ugh, really lame that the covenant are the bad guys! To me it looks like they had a chance to really change things up, introduce a new enemy and decided not to because they were too scared to stray from the Halo formula and need some real contrived way to make the Covenant the bad guys again.

There is, 343 has said that the main enemy is very different from the Covenant, it is just on the surface of the "Requiem" the Foreunner world, they wanted it to start like Halo, then mix things up.

I liked Halo Reach a lot, so I am looking forward to, at least, seeing what 343 can do with the series.

Sounds more like "Call of Halo" than just Halo. Not sure I like that.... I also have no idea why they decided to explain Reds Vs Blues or why elites are back if Chief is going on a Forerunner world.

Microsoft looked at their flag ship title being beaten by a cross platform series (COD) and just decided to turn Halo into that game.

Sad as it is.. I'm 31 and excited for a halo game. I'm pretty into the books and overall story though so I can't wait to see where this goes and what's going to happen... New people with the series, Chief is back, shooting more elites in the mandibles, I'm happy... Borderlands 2, halo 4, hopefully that'll pan out the rest of the year in happy happy game time.

Essentially for better or worse they added in many key components of multiplayer that became famous from COD4.

If I wanted to have load outs, credits for non-cosmetic stuff, limited weapon pickups, faster more fragile multiplayer I would go play CoD or BF3.

I prefer Halo because of the focus on aiming as opposed to twitch reaction.

Don't be. Halo 1 is where the series culminated. As someone who played all the halo games I can tell you without a doubt that the first game still wins over all of them.

Umm, you are aware that it's a game published by MS, right? Did you really honestly believe they will pull that on Halo and even risk at incurring the wrath of many O' gamers who just want another Halo 3 but at 720p? I admire your faith, unfortunately taking risks in the Halo franchise is something MS will never ever do. ODST was the closest thing a halo game will has ever got to a "Change" but that also fell flat.

The more I see of this game, the less excited I am. I hope whatever Bungie is working on turns out to be great

Halo3 disappointed the shit out of me, but I still played it for a couple of years because of custom games and Forge.

ODST relinquished the sins by having an amazing campaign and an addictive Firefight mode.

Halo Reach took everything, ate it, puked it out, shat on it, and said "enjoy". Worst game in the franchise. Period.

Sorry, Halo4 can die. 343 has tons of passionate and professional people, but that passion can go into something else that actually deserves it, not some lame shooter where the only design challenge is balance and map design.

I still like Halo, so I'm okay with not much changing. I can see how people might not be interested though.

Thing about Halo 3, ODST and Reach is that the games just graphically did not impress the way the first 2 did. Halo 1 was impressive as a console game in 2001, the lighting, the expansive maps. I was amazed. Halo 2 just added so much detail and changed the character models since the character models from Halo 1 were obviously built around 1999. Halo 3 just sucked ass in terms of graphics, everything looked familiar, it was sharper, lighting was better, but running at 640p, it didn't impress and just seemed like a nicer version of Halo 2. And that continued. The models didn't get make overs, just improvements. Halo character models are some of the worst this gen. But the fact is that it seems like they are really taking a big step in how they are making this game look.

I would say because some people, myself included, liked it. I don't get why people react so strongly toward changes in the game when the obvious solution is to go back and play Halo 3. I mean, that is the multiplayer game you want. Not like you can't play it.

@TheHBK: Disliking armor abilities doesn't mean I want to go play Halo 3 or don't want change. All of them were pretty useless and they felt like an excuse to have sprint in the game. They probably should have been pick ups like in the campaign if that would have meant buffing them up or making them useful.

I liked AA's for the most part.

I still just hate the fact that they called it Halo 4.

Call it Halo: Something or Master Chief Super Action Fun Time or anything else so you dont cheapen the original trilogy.

I hope they have a playlist that has set weapon spawns, I don't like the idea of random drop pods.

Were people really complaining about waiting a couple of seconds before respawning? Some of those are unquestionably there to attract the COD crowd. Power weapons are random and people have to grind to get the best multiplayer experience, seems lame. I'm okay with no firefight, Spartan Ops sounds great, except for the name.

Even with the COD stuff, I'm super hyped. The single player stuff that came out sounded very cool. The graphics will be amazing and as long as the maps are good, multiplayer will be fun, albeit unoriginal.
