I think for me, personally, it's a tie between Halo 2 and Halo Reach. I was entertained throughout, whereas I felt Halo and Halo 3 were not as well paced. Halo 2 gets shit sometimes for reasons I don't really understand.
But yeah Reach is a PHENOMENAL single player experience. I loved it. Probably better than any other FPS I've played the last 3 years.
Halo: Reach
Game » consists of 13 releases. Released Sep 14, 2010
A prequel to Halo: Combat Evolved, chronicling one of the most cataclysmic events of the Halo Universe through the eyes of a squad of Spartan super-soldiers known as Noble Team. It is also the last game in the series developed by Bungie.
Now that you've played Reach; What's your favourite Halo campaign
" Yo, not trying to be a dick, but Halo 2 sucked. Haven't played reach yet, but Halo:CE is my fav. "People keep saying it, I keep disagreeing with it. I thought it was a phenomenal campaign when it came out. I even liked the cliffhanger ending and thought it was earned.
Considering that I've replayed Halo 3's campaign constantly for the past 3 years, I'm gonna give it my vote. I think Reach successfully avoids any real low points (I hate the Heretic hunting levels in 2, Cortana in 3, and the dreaded Library in CE) but it doesn't have the high points that Halo 3 managed to bust out. The Storm and The Ark are two levels that are straight up amazing from start to finish, and Reach's most epic moments (Tip of the Spear, Long Night Into Solace) don't quite match up, even though they're really good.
" @blacklabeldomm: I think it speaks volumes that you forgot to mention ODST. But my list: Halo: Combat Evolved Halo: Reach Halo 2 Halo 3 Halo 3: ODST "You're right I just though we were talking about main storyline (reach fits kinda into Halo 1-3 right?)
Revised list:
1)Halo CE
2)Halo Reach
3)Halo 3
4)Halo 2
5)Halo ODST (I loved that game, but most of the love was firefight. The campaign is still excellent but only in comparison to the other 4 does it fit here...)
1) Halo 3
2) Halo ODST
3) Halo 2
4) Halo Reach
I don't understand the hate for ODST at all, i loved it. Perhaps it was because I had no high expectations going in, as I bought it about 6 months after it came out for the Halo Reach beta. On the flip side, I found the Reach campaign to be quite dull sadly.
Also I can't really judge the original though since I was only watching over the shoulder of a friend (or co-op? can't remember), half interested while trying to persuade him to play multiplayer again.
" @InfamousBIG said:I didn't mind the cliffhanger ending, being honest with you. I was more disappointed on a whole by the whole campaign. I think the biggest problem was it felt like it was just getting started when it ended." Yo, not trying to be a dick, but Halo 2 sucked. Haven't played reach yet, but Halo:CE is my fav. "People keep saying it, I keep disagreeing with it. I thought it was a phenomenal campaign when it came out. I even liked the cliffhanger ending and thought it was earned. "
" I actually like ODST but didn't finish the campaign because of a game-breaking bug where a the auto-save put me 2 hours back in time and I couldn't be bothered to play it over again. "I had the same problem, although I did complete it. I played through half the missions in CO-OP day one but the next time I played on my own and had to do all of them all over again and some missions I got confused on and ended up doing them multiple times. I also had problems in halo 3 where I completed the campaign on Legendary but it didn't show on my service record. Same thing that happened in ODST happen in reach but luckily I only had to re-play one mission on heroic.
1. Halo ODST
2. Halo Reach
3. Halo 3
4. Halo: CE
5. Halo 2
*Halo Wars had a decent campaign, the cg cutscenes made it better
- Halo: CE
- Halo 3
- Halo: Reach
- Halo 2
I thought Reach's was ok. Some nice levels, looks pretty, Halo action is still good, but Halo: CE is still the best. I didn't really get too into the characters (only one I really ended up kind of liking was Jorge) or the story. Haven't played ODST.
1. Halo 3
2. Reach
3. ODST
4. Halo : CE
5. Halo 2
Halo 2's wasnt bad per se, its just that the other 4 were alot better.
I'm going to say it's a close tie between Reach and ODST. I enjoy it much more when it's just a soldier fighting hordes of alien foes in a full blown battle. The Master Chief centric Halo games are still great but they start to get too metaphysical and preachy after awhile with the whole Prophets and religion subtext. As for Halo Wars I don't think you can really include it since it was an RTS and while there was a story it didn't seem like the focus of that game.
Honestly I think Reach has the best campaign, Halo 2 has the least memorable of them all IMO. But yes Halo 4 needs to happen I want to know hat happens to Master Chef
It's not that Halo 2's campaign was bad, but the religious allegory the narrative tried to convey was really shallow, and all of the Arbiter levels were really plodding. Plus, the "Sacred Icon/Quarantine Zone" back-to-back combo was leagues worse than "The Library". It feels like a fucking marathon in comparison.
Also, Halo 2's ending wasn't so much a "cliffhanger" as it was a "we should probably stop making the game now" ending. It wasn't at all earned. The story just . . . stopped.
CE and Reach are pretty close for me, mainly because like any Halo game it just stops being fun when the Flood is involved and yo they be no flood on Reach.
I'm not really sure why people didn't like ODST's campaign, I actually really enjoyed it and had way more fun on Heroic then I did with Reach was just a chore and more frustrating then challenging.
And I haven't played 2 in a long time, 3 was decent but CE for me hasn't aged well, too many repetitive rooms
1. Halo CE
2. Halo Reach, Halo 3 (basically a tie)
3. Halo ODST
4. Halo 2
Also, I actually enjoyed the combat in ODST more than Halo 3 (since they refined a lot of the combat mechanics) but I felt the storytelling in Halo 3 was definitely better.
I think my favorite was Reach. While I was still basically just a faceless space marine, giving me the option of creating my own character instead of forcing me to be the big angry green booger again went a long way to helping me connect with them and care about what was going on. Plot holes and retcons be damned, when the end came, I actually felt something akin to sadness.
I am on mission 5 in Reach, and so far I consider it the worst Halo singleplayer. By worst I don't mean bad, just not as good as the others. I think each Halo game has been worst than its predecessor. So my list is:
- Halo
- Halo 2
- Halo 3
- Halo Reach
I have not played ODST, but I'm pretty sure it would be at the bottom of the list.
" 1) Halo CEThis,
2) Halo Reach
3) Halo 3
4) Halo 2
5) ODST "
