Halo Wars Review
Halo wars, after details of the game was released people wondered if the “halo title” would revolutionize the console real time strategy. After playing the game I can say it doesn’t revolutionize a lot but it does prove that RTS can be done on the console.
When you buy halo wars (if you decide to) don’t expect a deep complicated RTS like starcraft, its easy and accessible to pick up. Ensemble defiantly took a long time thinking out the controls because it’s impossible to complain, there was not one moment in the game where I wanted a mouse or keyboard. There is a circle menu to use for building and creating units and several different ways to select your units.
For a halo fan I highly recommend this game, the story is surprising good with its gorgeous CG cutscenes and reference to the halo lore. You’ll get about 9 to 12 hours of halo wars single player but like with most RTS you will want to play multiplayer. While playing up to three players is fun I got most of my enjoyment out of playing coop with two other friends against the multiplayer AI which is very smart and fun to play against.
Halo wars wont last you as long as a regular RTS but if you are looking to get into the genre halo wars is a great gateway game.
