Meh.
Halo
The franchise that defined the Xbox, Halo contains some of the most popular games ever released. The Halo FPS titles are revered for their excellent gamepad control and high-quality online multiplayer. The franchise now contains novels, soda tie-ins, an RTS spin-off, toys, and more.

I always find it funny when people talk about Halo and its OMG AWSUM STOREE and concern themselves with the chronology or whatever.
It's a generic-ass video game premise about Generic Space Marine Dude and his EPIC BATTLEZ against a Generic Alien Enemy.
Go read a book, seriously.
Beyond Halo, this is kind of a lackluster announcement list. Curious about the Live changes, though.

@mrfluke said:A rude awakening? What, that people are going to needlessly bitch about it on the internet? Who cares? Are you also pissed that they made a Back to the Future game that picks up after the third film, even though it said "The End" at the end of part 3?microsoft better get the word out that halo 4 is the beginning of a new trilogy for master chief, or they are gonna have a rude awakening (as already displayed in the comments here already)@Video_Game_King said:
Halo 4? What about that damn commercial for Halo 3 that said "finish the fight?" What, ODST, Reach, and Wars weren't enough? Granted, ODST was pretty good, and I liked what little I played of Wars, but stick to your damn word! That'd be like if Sega made Phantasy Star games after IV. Wait...
If they're not careful they might drown while rolling around in their pile of money.
NO. The fight is finished, it's done. That was the point of Halo 3, it's a motherfucking trilogy and all loose ends have been dealt with. This is gonna be the Phantom Menace of Halo, I fucking know it.

Halo 3 did finish the fight, it ended the war with the covenant. But what's wrong with exploring more of the universe and characters? ODST showed more of the human side to what was going on during the invasion and Reach was a prequel that showed how thing really got started.
Halo 4 obviously won't be about the covenant, war or the flood.
It's like how Star Trek VI ended the war with the Klingons.. Does that mean there can never be other Star Trek movies/shows?
I'm all fine for a new Halo 1 remake this year just don't include multiplayer outside of Co-op (unless they do like ODST and include the Halo 3 mp with extra stuff on the disc). Halo Reach is still wildly popular and in my opinion the pinnacle of what can be done with that game and multiplayer.
I like the fact that before you click onto this article, it says "an intern is getting fired this morning" totally funny. Halo 4, oh yeah

None of that's really surprising. In fact Halo 4 is a little disappointing, they couldn't have come up with a better title?
I don't think so. We've had Halo spin-offs, prequels and expansions.. They want people to know this is Halo 4, the real deal that will continue the Master Chief story.
Like how we had GTAIII, followed by Vice City and San Andreas before getting the big, true sequel.
I can't understand how people like this series. It's so repetitive and dull, the multiplayer is god awful. The "story" is laughable(not talking about the books, they don't count). I just don't get it, believe me, I tried. I played the first two about half way through each, and I fucking bought Reach to give the series a fair shake after a few years. But no. It's so goddamn bad.
If Star Trek revolved entirely around the war with the Klingoms or whatever, then yea, it'd be pretty damn hard to make another Star Trek anything. Again, Halo 3 said that it was going to finish things, so why the hell are they adding more games to the franchise (FROM A STORY PERSPECTIVE, mind you)?
i can only hope they purposely teased the Halo 4 announcement so they can announce something a lot more interesting...if what they mentioned there is all they got, Microsoft's going to disappoint.
I think multiplayer is the only thing Halo does well. But I totally agree, the story is laughably generic and I can't believe people are into it.I can't understand how people like this series. Again, it did finish the fight, just as it said it would. You'd have to be crazy to think they'd never make more and I don't see why it can't expand on the universe from here. The books and other spin-offs already have done.

At the end of Halo 3 (on legenday) Master Chief is alive and heading to the Forerunner homeworld.
Bungie said they were going to do 4 but decided to do a prequel so they could leave Microsoft with their story done. Meaning 4 is the start of another story.
More like the New Republic Stories in Star Wars than TPM.
So the only thing worth hearing about are the new XBL features. Did MS really give up on make new games and instead just keep releasing more and more Halo. Who do they think they are Activision? We did finish the fight. But afaik there are multiple fights in this world.
Besides, 6 games in 12 years is 1/4th of the rate Activision are holding with their Call of Duty games.
