I say "tried", because I imagine you'd have to go out of your way to be the shittiest detective possible. Stepping over corpses/weapons, just looking at the trash, yelling at rape victims, totally believing the "musical talent agent". Anything hilarious/awful in particular?

L.A. Noire is a detective thriller developed by Team Bondi in Australia and published by Rockstar Games.
Anyone tried to 1-star a case yet? (spoilers maybe?)
I've gotten one because I sucked on this one case and it was the one with the rape victim but that's only because I thought selecting "Lie" was wrong because I never get some sweet fanfare music upon selection like I do when I pick "Doubt" or "Truth."
Anyway, I was thinking of playing the clueless cop sometime during my vacation, selecting "Truth" every chance I get. I know I'll get somewhere with that one guy who checked out that one dude's wallet in one of those Traffic cases.

I've got two 2s from selecting probably the wrong guy, and a 1 star case in the one with the boxer. There is only 1 interrogation sequence in it, with three questions. If you miss a single question you're getting 3 stars, two questions you get 2 ... and I missed all three.

I got one yesterday. I missed a couple easy interrogation questions, and I kinda ran over several people with my car. Total accident.
I got 1 star on The Golden Butterfly. Completely fucked up the interrogation with the perv, and did a ton of damage behind the wheel too. I think that was the only one, but if you're driving without regard for pedestrians or other cars it becomes a lot easier to 1 star cases.
Yeah i fucked up the first arson case, didn't help Phelp's case but to be honest it wasn't that bad.
I got a 1-Star rating on 'The Setup'
I honestly have no idea how I pulled that off, I ended up with most 4-star ratings.
I love shouting at people. Especially the "widow" on one of the earlier cases. *Sob Sob* I'm so worried about my husband detective" ..."YOUR LYING TO ME YOU PIECE OF TRASH". Not going to be Copper of the year. Would love an option to pull your gun and break a finger with its butt or push a rapist off the roof and claim he fell. Maybe in the sequel.

"Ashamed" I legitimately got 1 star on 3 cases.
I got 1 star on Golden Butterfly as well. Who did you put away the husband of the other guy? That could be the reason for the low star rateing.
Got 1 star on Golden Butterfly without trying.Me, too. I didn't cause a lot of damage, but I missed the vast majority of the questions. Bombed that case HARD. =(
Also got one star on the case with the boxer. Seriously, how are you supposed to read that woman? She's all shifty eyed and shes telling the truth? Yeesh.who, candy? she's not telling the truth, I just did that questioning - 2 lies and 1 doubt.
It ranks you with stars? I never even noticed. I totally nailed one case, The Golden Butterfly, only to be severely reprimanded by my boss afterwards, and then in the next mission they just boasted about how great I was for solving that last crime. I was like "Wow, you guys are on drugs!"
I received a one star on the Gas Man case, I think. That might actually have been a two star, but I definitely received a one star at some point. I still struggle with the conversations at times, sometimes clues point out that someone is lying and it just does not work, or the suspect words things in a way that doubt and lie could both work, again because I have evidence that should implicate them.
I've finished the game though, so I am very carefully working my way back through old cases with bad scores and attempting to five star everything, if not for the achievement, then just to make myself feel smart in this game for once.
I managed to fuck up a murder case and an arson case so royally that I got a one star. But that was also because I didn't have the evidence to convict the "right" man, both of them being multiple suspects to charge.
So far the only case I got a one star was that Butterfly one. The only reason though was because (spoilers-ish) I apparently muffed up on the last interrogation or something and it caused a chase sequence, causing the culprit to crash into a trolley and causing lots of money in damage (my partner even shot out one of his tires and almost got the other one. FML)
Otherwise, I get 3 or more stars.
@CL60 said:Fallen Idol is a harder one since you can never tell if the 15 year old is lying or not@Daveyo520 said:That was the case I got three stars on. Going against the captains wishes in Golden Butterfly will really give your score a massive hit at the end.
Did on the boxer case. Screwed up royally with the questions, of which there are only three.
Did anyone else feel that case was almost surreal in its conclusion? Randomly finding the boxer and the assailant in an abandoned cinema complex, where there's some mad monologuing going on? Not to mention the plot jumps from point-to-point so quickly - it has to be one of the shortest in the game. I was half-expecting Cole to wake up in his office and have it be that the case was all a dream of his.

This reminded me of an idea I had to play through the game as Truth Cop, the cop who is just too nice of a guy and pretty much believes everyone.
He's so naive.
Capt. Leary yelled at me and I felt bad.
btw, is 4-stars the max rating ?
