Unless you've run out of good rpg hack 'n' slashes, don't bother.

I'm a big comic book fan and my collection consists of about 900 right now, so when I got this game I was so excited. I thought I was going to make my own team of my favorite super heroes with their own customized skills and costumes. In a lot of ways I got my wish, but the game was dragged down by less than average gameplay and awful graphics that  just took away the the fun. At first you are impressed with the game when you see the opening cinematic, It has amazing action pretty good voice acting and beautiful cgi animations, it looks like you're watching something from Pixar (The makers of movies like Wall-e and The incredibles). Sadly there are only a couple of these cinematics and they're the only real strong point of the game. Once the cinematic is done you are immediately disappointed. The gameplay is basically what you'd expect, a slow strong attack, a faster but less powerful attack, and a grab move. When you've grabbed a character you have the option to hold them there while you beat them senseless, or you could pull off a cool finishing move. You'll also get other unlock able abilities, which consist mostly of long range attacks and some team upgrades, like making your team have improved defense for a certain amount of time. All of these features are decent, but it's nothing you haven't seen done better before. Another thing you'll notice throughout the game is how far the camera is panned out, you'd think that this is just so that you can watch the action on a larger scale, but you'll realize that this is really just a trick so that you can't see the awful character models in the game. They look good enough when you select you character, but when you actually see them in action with a close enough camera angle you'll realize how bad they look, they don't look to great for a last gen game let alone a next gen one. In fact the the whole game looks pretty bad, especially with the larger bosses when you get to see them up close.

As a comic book fan I was hoping for at least a decent story, and that's what I got, a decent story, not a good one, a decent one. If you are a comic book fan there will be a lot of things you'll see that will just make you grin, and say "OH my god! They actually got a comic book story right in the video game!" You will be exploring all parts of the marvel universe, and if your like me, you'll be enjoying it to.
So if your willing to spend your money on a couple of good cutscenes, and some good references to comic books then go right ahead, because that's all that you'll be paying for.

      A missed opportunity 0

I received a copy Marvel Ultimate Alliance (MUA) as part of my Xbox 360 Elite and from the outset I have to admit that it is not the type of game that I would typically buy. The game sat on the shelf for a while but due to my growing interest in comics I decided to finally sit down and play through the game.MUA is a brawler/RPG hybrid that allows you to control 4 super-heroes. At any given time the player controls a single character but is able to send basic squad commands to AI controlled chara...

The galaxy is at peace 0

The original Marvel: Ultimate was released in 2006, a simpler time for superheroes. Back then, superheroes weren’t at war with each other over some kind of ambiguous superhero registration act and the comics weren’t trying to reflect reality with a social commentary…or at least they weren’t as obvious. Ultimate took place back when Captain was Steve Rogers and not the three or four people that have since tried to fill his HGH-filled shoes. And with the new Ultimate Alliance 2 game seeking i...
