Kind of a dumb question, but i've been wanting to know whether or not i was the only person to turn it off.
Mass Effect 2
Game » consists of 21 releases. Released Jan 26, 2010
After a violent death by an unknown force and a timely reanimation by the human supremacist organization Cerberus, Commander Shepard must assemble a new squad in the seedier side of the galaxy for a suicide mission in the second installment of the "Mass Effect" trilogy.
Do you play with film grain on or off?
On. Just like the first game, when you turn it off, the ugly textures become more apparent. ME2 is a better looking game then the first but it's still has some...icky textures from time to time. I think the worst part about this game is the ugly red border thing that appears when you die. It just looks awful in every way.
I keep it off, it doesn't add anything to the environment and, when I keep it on - I just can't shake the feeling that I'm playing the entire game through a less-than-photoshop filter.
" On. I would only turn it off in ME1 because it was way too intense. "Yeah, I hardly noticed it in ME2.
Also this should be a poll.
I used to play the first one on an old SDTV so it looked kind of crappy. Turning on the film grain and motion blur just made it worse :P
On in Mass Effect 2. I turned it and the motion blur off almost immediately in Mass Effect 1 though. It looked really weird in that first game.
On, that's the way they wanted you to play it, so that's how I play. I like it too though, gives it a gritty feel.
I usually have it on, but turned down a little bit from default.
I used to turn it off all the time but, the game looked too clean.
" Off. I don't even think the console version has the option to turn it on. "I believe the console version has it turned on at first and it may be changed afterward. Since you are unaware as to whether the console version of ME2 had a film grain option or not, and considering what I mentioned earlier, then you probably played it with film grain on. IMO though, ME2's filter doesn't make as huge as a difference as ME1's did, so not being able to notice the film grain isn't a big oopsy.
Off in ME1, off in ME2, off in L4D1, off in L4D2.
I think film grain looks dumb. Only game I can think of where I've kept it on is Alien Swarm, and only because I haven't turned it off to see what it's like without it yet. Though it might look better considering the type of game and gritty feel they're going for with that universe.
On. I don't understand the hate for film grain. I get that it's just an added effect, but the fact that they are now scrubbing it out of movies is nuts.
off...hate that shit. also motion blur is too exaggerated in Mass Effect. watch some of the vistas in ME2 with and without filmgrain and then try to go back using it..The colors are so diluted when using it. It's good for games with shitty resolution to blur out everything though.
