Screenshotting on PC is still hokey, I need to run this through Steam.
Went with a pretty normal looking option

How are the animations on custom faces? The stock one looks too derpy for me (I miss my FemShep)
Better but sometimes still a little jacked up.
@zayneashe: I'm kinda jealous. She looks dope!
Here's my contribution
@kblosnack: Probably not as good as people want, but better than what I saw from videos of default Ryder. I am not getting the blank stare looking as much it seems. He emotes fine. Honestly, and I've said this in previous posts, but the facial animations are as bad as the detail of the faces. Also, on a side note (when it comes to issues I saw in the video from Giant Bomb), the dialogue where Ryder says 'we got this' a bunch of times isn't actually that prevalent. Well, it might be, but it hasn't been in the thirteen hours I've played. That said, the doctor that was supposed to be on the ship did say it once in a codex; it said 'you got this'.
@efesell: It depends on the character you want to create. I like trying to put my look into the character, and since I have red hair, not being able to even change the eyebrow color from black or brown, it's kind of annoying and it sticks out as an issue to me. You can't do much to change the look of the faces either, they pretty much keep the general look of the presets. You can definitely make them look goofy if you put the sliders all the way to one side, but still. I'm okay with the character I settled with, but I wish there was a bit more to it.
@sandalinbohemia: Your custom character looks a million times better than the default female character who was based on a real woman and her in-game likeness is nothing like her. Maybe you should work for Bioware and use their own tools to make the faces.
I left everything default on my male Ryder. I'll probably make a custom guy if I do a 2nd playthrough though
@probablytuna: They look pretty good... How do they look animated? Less/more/as awkward as the defaults?
Can't speak for Scott Ryder but Sara animates just fine.
Just a reminder to people if you use nvidia and have shadowplay enabled you can press Alt+F1, not the podcast, to take a screenshot to the nvidia folder.
Also this game supports Ansel, as I found out by mistake when trying to remember the nvidia screenshot key. Alt-F2 if you want photo mode.
@thatonedudenick: Did you create Jalen Rose?
@wemibelle: That's actually one of the most natural looking I've seen, even compared to the default female Ryder.
My Rider is waaaay better than the default one, as was my custom one in ME123, you just have to spend the time in the creator. I want my protagonists to be more "normal" than the models who would fit in a bad action movie.
Also appearently there is a reddit thread with good looking models including slider positions so people can recreate those, if they are worried about this.
@lord_canti: You know it!
That's a pretty good likeness, btw.
@jadegl: seems like no amount of customisation can fix the eyes.
@zayneashe: Well shit your Ryder is now making me regret my hair choice.
Great looking character. All black jacket and red scarf works.
Here is mine, had to tinker a lot but I kinda like how it turned out (at least I like it more than default one)
@wemibelle, I loved yours!
@mrcraggle: haha thanks! ;) Hire me, bioware!
I've only had time to play for an hour but I've not noticed any problems like in the quick look. Not sure if it is my costum Ryder or playing on PC with Ultra settings but I think the face looks better than Sheppard's. Using female preset 1 with some changes. Not had the dead eyes problem.
I know it's usually a lost cause trying to make a character look like yourself, but I was pretty successful back when Fallout 4 came out. Tried my best here even with the simpler customizations; it came out ok. Definitely not picture perfect; my character basically looks like an idealized/hollywoodified version of myself. The eyes are a little too big though, which keeps weirding me out in every scene. I'm happy with it though. The default ryder just didn't gel with me.

Better than anything I could create in ME123 that's for sure.
Also I like my outfit.
Where do you get this outfit?
@omgfather: It's a default outfit. You can change clothes on the Tempest. It's the jacket option.
@wemibelle: I'm getting serious Emily vibes from your Ryder. It's like she got a haircut then decided she needed to slap all of Andromeda in the face.

Ah. I guess the jacket is different for male Ryder.
@donmfjohnson: wow, how did I not think of that name? I am ashamed of my words and deeds...
Here's what I came up with, after spending FAR FAR too long obsessing over rough edges on her face before finally realizing that the animation just makes any character look weird at times. Ended up with nothing special, I know, but I think she has a neat look.
That second shot is where she really shines. I find myself asking people for their sliders cause I keep agonizing over "What if I fail mine when I get the game?"
I remember spending like 2 hours on character creation when ME1 came out, played an hour only to scrap the character and spend another hour on a new character.
Everything is a bit dark on the ship for some reason, ansel brightness and contrast wasn't great either.
@oursin_360: He kinda looks like harold perrineau from lost. And yeah, it can get a bit dark on the tempest in places.
