The Mass Effect Trilogy is all the movie I need.
Mass Effect
Mass Effect is a science fiction franchise created by BioWare. The main games follow the adventures of Commander Shepard, the first human Spectre, as he/she tries to protect the galaxy from an ancient and malevolent alien race.
Mass Effect To Hit The Big Screen
It would make a good movie, but Heavy Rain is almost a movie in itself lol. I don't think it would work as thoroughly in movie form; I'd probably still watch it though." I believe some studio is also working on the rights to bring Heavy Rain to the big screen. "
Edit: and to stick to the topic, yeah I just hope they don't mess up the movie. I can definitely see that happening, hopefully it won't and Mass Effect will make a good movie. It baffles me how people still refuse to believe how different movies and video games are; a good video game won't necessarily make a good movie and vice versa. Lets just hope it goes well. :D
so does this mean exclusive Mass Effect 3 DLC depending on what theater you go see it at?
...i'm down.
Why do we need a movie for Mass Effect? The games already have a great story, voice acting, graphics, music, etc... What the hell do I need with a crappy movie trying to ruin one of my favorite franchises in history?
And since there is no way around this it seems, if its not Mark Vanderloo playing Commander Shepard this is already a complete failure.
This Brad Nicholson jabroni can fuck off. I liked the Silent Hill movie. Comparing it to Uwe Boll trash shows total ineptitude.
I'll definitely see this. I'm interested to see how they'll handle decisions. Also, is this going to be on Mass 1 or 2?
I love Mass Effect as much as the next guy, probably more actually - but I am really glad to see that this might be a movie. As great as Mass Effect is, it's not a work of genius that would be spoiled by a less than great movie. As long as it has something interesting in it, then it's worth it. The greatness of Mass Effect is the characters and your impact on them and the universe. A movie would just be another way to expand that universe and if somebody doesn't like it then that's OK too.
I generally don't agree with the anti-film adaption vain so prevalent among gamers. No major game yet has been so great in writing or story that it would be tarnished by any movie (short of Uwe Boll's abominations perhaps).
I say bring it on.
There needs to a be a vote button in the cinema so, people can vote for the renegade/
paragon interventions.
O...kay...Kinda seems unnecessary, but hey! Eventually one of these movies has to be good, right?...Right?
I'd fully support this movie. The one thing that kept me from enjoying Mass Effect was the main component: Gameplay. Take that out, release it in theaters, I'm down.
i really hope commander shephard gets a good actorr and then ill watch this movie
im gonna see it at midnight!
Having Arad's name attached to it is a bad thing. From all the interviews of him he really comes across as a phony who doesn't follow the material he whores.
Can I choose what Shepard does as I'm watching the movie at the theater? Everyone else would vote too and the choice that gets the most votes wins.
" There is a lot of game to pull a movie out of, but I fear that may be the problem. Assuming a two hour movie, there might be too much material to cover. "When you take out the "go to some warehouse full of cover boxes to fight through random dudes to reach plotpoint x" the story is a lot leaner. And there's no garantee that it'll be a single movie, or a short movie.
My only worry is that, if they do go with Shepard as the main character, that the movie will be a turn off because in Mass Effect, Shepard is exactly how I want him to be. He acts how I feel I would act (or would like to), and having a Shepard that acts outside of my comfort zone seems a little off-putting.
Of course, I haven't actually had any experience with anything like this, so for all I know it could turn out to be awesome. Although, I wouldn't mind seeing some extended fiction.
They better not make it about Shepard. He (or she) is a very personal character because they evolve depending on the player's choices. Not only that, but the appearance of Shepard will vary. Are they going to make Shepard a male or female? Paragon or renegade? No, there are too many variables to make a film about Shep and his crew.
What they should do is make a movie based off some other, perhaps major aspect of the Mass Effect universe. Seeing at how rich it is, making a movie in such a way should not be difficult.
