"This summer, Michael Cera IS Mass Effect. "
oh God no. I really hope this movie is good and not shitty
I really, really hope they don't go down the humans first, Ashley lives, Udina, route because, really, I HATE that angle. I mean, I love humanity to death, but the Aliens of Mass Effect are so cool and radical and the human party members are about as mysterious and engaging as the alphabet.
"Hopefully the involvement of the three main Bioware guys will make this a better game-to-movie adaption than other attempts. "

Well with Bioware writers producing I'm deffenitely not going to write this off immediately. Stoked to see where it goes
This sounds like a pretty awesome concept. They'll need a ridiculous budget to make a film around a game like this due to the designs used in the game. Assuming that they keep it true to the original design. They'll probably alter some stuff here and there though. I look forward to more news on the idea of a Mass Effect film though - sounds incredibly original and something that should have been done a long time ago considering the amazing story and environment the game is set in.
Let's hope it doesn't go the same way as the supposed Halo movie did.
Please include footage of the Mako being demolished by a Thresher Maw XD It would be the perfect fan service :P
This seems like it could work, they just need to get the script right and make it heavy on special effects (IMO this movie needs it for it's distinctive aliens and settings etc.)
Your lack of exposure to Isreali/Hebrew names says more about you than it does them. One is abbreviation for Avraham (Abraham) and the other means 'My Father'. Both are very common names." Avi and Ari? You just can't make this stuff up, folks. "
I really hope that they do the right thing, and don't try to retell the story of the games, but rather gives us a new story in the same universe; potentially one with links to the game, like the books they've made. It at least has potential to be great, when they are working with the guys at Legendary.
I don't think this can work in a maybe-two-hour movie. There is not much time for character development and telling an epic story at the same time. I will still not bash this movie before it happens but I have a bad feeling, too.
I hope that it is a different story than the games, but in the same universe. Bioware has created a lot of lore for the mass effect franchise, and they should use it.
Well there is MORE than enough fiction here to make a great movie, I just hope they don't toss it all to the side in order to condense everything into a movie. Hopefully they will contain themselves and limit the movie to the first game only. Even then if done properly it should be a LONG movie. I have hope....but no expectations.
One of the best things about Mass Effect is that there simply is no canon, as the developers have established. The only concrete fact is that there existed a Commander Shepard who saved the galaxy. A movie would undermine all that, like the marketing has already done. So, please please please don't let the movie be about Shepard.
On another note, Legendary Pictures is behind this, so it might be not horrible.
since the minds behind Mass Effect the game are brought on by the Warner Bros. and Legendary pictures, i think that really gives this a great chance to be a good video game- movie
There is great potential for a good movie here, let's see what they come up with. Mark Meer to play Shepperd??
