So I just went prestige and I had all my guns reset so I decided to try playing like someone I met the day before since it requires nothing but the good ol' handy knife. Basically, for the perks, I put on marathon, lightweight, and commando. With this, you're already running crazy fast with what might as well be a Halo sword, but once you unlock the tactical knife for a pistol, you're like an effing ninja. Where this play style really comes to its prime though, is when you unlock a care package in a match, which for whatever weird reason, increases your speed when you're holding it. You can't use any guns, but your knife remains active, as does any equipment you might have, and you run in sort of a crouching position. So the result of all this is running around like the fucking flash just shanking everyone on the other team. By the time they hear your footsteps (which are loud and on rapidfire), they're already dead. The bane of my existance is the enemy UAV, but other than that, this is the most fun I have had playing this game multiplayer. I average 17-ish kills in any given team deathmatch using this insane method.

I have discovered the most fun way to play this game

"Lol, that sounds fucking annoying to be on the receiving end though. "
Oh it can be. The way to counter it though, is camping in a good spot since you know that anyone doing this isn't exactly going to be coming at you with anything with range on it. I got the "...the harder they fall" challenge done by constantly shooting a guy on the enemy team that just kept running at me with a knife.
Haha yeah it's pretty cool... we were discussing this exact method a few days ago. Haven't actually tried it out yet though!
How has your K/D been since you've started this? Do you get killed much? I'll give it a go later and find out about this fun method.
" Also unlock a tactical knife on one of your pistols for quicker bullshit. People who use this strategy is lame... Lets buy a fps and use the knife all the time... "First-person shanker?
I wanna try it at some point. Sounds like fun. I think I saw someone using that tactic on my first day of online play. So are you supposed to hold onto the smoke grenade that calls in the care package to go quicker? Like have it currently equipped?

You basically sacrifice holding any actual gun for running faster. Just press left on the D-pad to get it out and instead of throwing it, just run around the map holding the thing.
" I won't argue that abusing this class with the knife and 1887's is fun, but personally it's beginning to ruin it for me. When my only option to counter them is to camp I don't really want to play the game anymore. "I would say that the Knives are more a "oh damn, I got killed by him once or twice, kinda sucks" moment; whereas, when it comes to akimbo 1887s, there really is NO counter for that. It's got range like an smg and damage like a shotgun....plus you can hold two....
I love playing like this too. It's a lot of fun to get right up in a guys face a just stab the shit out of him.
Only knifing thread
Funnest class to try... thread
All of these essentially talking about the same thing. But this is a blog post, so I guess it's okay.
Then same situation I tried to knife him back... no success.
The 1887's are kinda cheap (especially since they proliferate to everyone on the map), but the knifing I just have to respect.
why is everyone bitching about the knife? you see, if they're using the tactical knife, THEN THEY CAN'T SHOOT YOU. seriously just look around and cover your flanks, and if you hear foot steps then look for someone close by. i think that it's fun to use, and not that hard to counter.
and i would bitch about the 1887s, but i hate them for the same reason that i hate snipers, you can't counter them or stop them. you walk into a street, you immediately get shot, and you can't really do anything about it unless you happen to flank those people.
Knife-running is a fun way to play. My K/D sucks ass when I do it though, goes down to practically 1/1 so I usually just stick to my M16 or ACR. But when I get bored, WATCH OUT, cause Mr. Knifey is a comin' for you.
Aww, I was expecting a huge sarcasm post by the OP...consider me disappointed. Anyways, I'd do that, but I've always felt it's kind of a shame that the knife is seen as just another weapon now in this FPS. In Counter-Strike and the Assassination in Halo it is seen as a sort of humiliation, because it happens less often than a shot or beat down. Oh well, this does sound like fun though.
dude, my ratio was pretty but I got bored of having to canp in order to do well so yesterday I started doing exactly this. its so much fun, especially when you hunt someone down and then finally get them
Shadow, the fact that you use that glitch and the P90 says everything I want to know about you. I have no problem with people running at me with lightweight etc on because if you spot them you can kill them. BUT when they use that cheap ass excuse of a glitch to go ridiculously fast you don't have a chance because their body changes shape, sometimes hunching over but they are still sprinting. I hear people all the time trying to justify its use but really people using it are no better than the people who get under maps or use the javelin glitch.
To all those who think that it really doesn't make that much difference, why are you using it?
Wow. You act like you practically discovered this.
Everyone knows about it and has known about it, and theres even a pre-set class for it.

It was old then.. it was new the week the game out.
