So, he’s only been out for a few hours, and people over at testyourmight.com have already posted videos of some Freddy combos that look VERY easy to do and output more than 50% damage…

From spending some time with him this morning, he plays a little like Shang Tsung (the inputs of his moves and has the following moves:

-           Teleport toward and away from opponents

-           Projectile

-           Ground attacks

-           A stun/set up combo special move

-           And easy juggles.

Well, here’s hoping he doesn’t win EVO 2012. ;)

he looks rather easy to use. But I'll suck with him all the same.

Haven't even started my system today, so haven't even seen him online or downloaded him yet, but... seriously?! 
 
Can you think of a DLC character that haven't spawned a topic claiming them to be top-tier. 
Really... The game isn't *just* about combos. 
 
You have to land that combo-starter first - and every other character ALSO in the game have potential at doing 40%+ combo.

Agreed. His damage output is way too high.

Shouldn't you wait more then a few hours to declare a character top tier? Give people a chance to figure out how to counter him or something?

If Skarlet is any indication he's not top teir, he's kind of busted. I haven't played her recently, but I think Skarlet's neutral throw still does 17% compared to everyone else's 12%. 

He's extremely fun to play, especially in a mirror match, but yeah... I'm thinking he's a bit broken. 

DLC characters were banned at this year's EVO so there is a chance it will happen again next year if MK9 is part of EVO again.

50% combos? Leave that lame juggling bullshit in Tekken. I should hope you can get out of that.

They were banned because of the time issue though, not like MK3 Cyrax who was banned because he still has the bomb trap. If MK is at EVO 2012 they will be allowed provided something ban-worth isn't found in them.

Correct. That's the reason why the MK DLC wasn't allowed but the MvC3 DLC was allowed, the difference in time between their release and the date of EVO.

Haven't had the chance to play him myself yet, but from what I've seen so far the only really noticeable thing is the reset into combo move. But then again it is an EX, so should be fine. 50% corner or X-ray combos are nothing new or special, and someone having projectiles and teleports etc etc is basically descriptive of well over half the cast already.

High-damage combos do not a good character make.

All the DLC characters were top-tier at release because they're made them not to be shitty characters but also didn't have the proper balancing feedback to make them playable. He and every other DLC character will likely be nerfed by the time another big tournament rolls around. It's sad that he's another character with all the teleports etc. when so many have them already.

Also pure combo potential doesn't mean anything if it uses a ton of meter or an x-ray. In addition no one truly knows the advantage or disadvantage of any of those moves yet without proper exposure.

Man I would be super bummed if MK9 wasn't at EVO 2012 because that means I'm not watching EVO :(

People can cook up some crazy stuff in training mode, so let's see in a real tourney how it goes.

As for MK at EVO next year, it just depends if the community can keep it hype, but it also has to fight against, UMvC3, 3rd Strike, SCV, and possibly SFxT
