So in between all the great news that SMTIV: Final is to receive an English localization as SMTIV: Apocalypse and the release of the nightmarish fever-dream that is SMT x FE : Some weebish subtitle (yes, I am a hypocrite), Persona 5 has been feeling a bit dead as far as new details go.

Until now that is, there's a new countdown. Here it is, and it's to end sometime around 5/5.

Early confirmation of best girl
Early details about the fighting and dance game spinoffs.

Edit: So seeing as this got rebumped, might as well update this info. There's to be a NicoNico stream hosted by Atlus on the same day. End of that stream syncs up more or less with the end of the countdown. The timer page itself also got updated.

If the other Persona-related countdowns have taught me anything, it's that there's always an infuriating, confusing fever dream at the end.

It'll be a two hour stream of P4 VAs sitting on each others laps again. Seriously though probably release date. You don't make a countdown and generate hugr hype for a delay. I'm guessing they will probably confirm the late August rumors. Hopefully Atlus USA is hitting with simultaneous/near simultaneous release like they seemed to be shooting for. It'll be real weird to be playing 4 or so JRPGs almost all back to back. This, TMS#FE, NieR Automata, FFXV.

PV has to be confirm but curious as to what else they'll show off since they are nearing their release.

Im betting it's a concert followed by either a delay or release date and another trailer.

I think they're definitely going to announce a release date. At this point, it really wouldn't make sense for them to generate hype for a new anime series or any other peripheral project, especially since we're so close to the Q2 release window they announced a few months ago. My prediction is that they'll release the game in late August in Japan and early to mid September in the West.

I don't think you create a countdown clock for a delay... That said, it could be a release date prettied up so that it doesn't look like a delay. They get us all hyped before telling us that P5 will be coming January X of 2017! Yeah, get hyped! It's a release date! What? We gave you a date, the actual time until then doesn't matter, just that you know, right? Of course, God willing, it's just a normal date with maybe the time range of the English release as well (which will hopefully not be 4 months after).

Atlus have done 30 and 40-hour livestreams leading up to Persona-related announcements in the past. Just having a countdown feels oddly restrained for Persona series.

I really hope this game comes out this year. We already lost Scalebound and it's all but official that Tekken 7 won't come out this year either. Horizon Zero Dawn sounds like it could be on delay watch as well. I wouldn't be surprised if Nier Automata got pushed to next year. Outside of No Man's Sky there aren't any confirmed 2016 games that I'm very excited about, excluding ports of already existing games (for example Hyper Light Drifter and Darkest Dungeon on PS4).

Come on 2016 we gotta have a strong second half. Dark Souls 3 and SFV are cool but we need more bangers.

Persona 4 Taco Party for Cinco de Mayo confirmed!

I'm still looking forward to this, but man, catching up on all the P4 spinoffs over the past year really wound up draining a lot of my hype for P5. They have me kind of worried about the franchise going forward, honestly.

(But don't get me wrong, I'll still be glued to the monitor to see whatever this countdown ends with.)
