The actor who died was Scott Wilson. Andrew Lincoln is the lead who is leaving the show. Not a great look to mix them up just to accuse Kirkman of being insensitive.

On a much lighter note, Smash Bros. is a bigger franchise than Zelda easily. The sales data is all there, the critical reception is there, and yes, people buy systems for Smash Bros.

Please factcheck. I love the show but those bits were awkward to listen to, especially the first.

@apdls: Brad clearly stated several times "I don't know, I'm just guessing, I could be wrong" at that bit and it was clear he was reading that Variety article in real time. It's an honest mistake. The broader point that Kirkman is trying to paint the fans as the real victims in the Telltale fallout ("losing Clementine"), when nearly 300 people lost their job and health insurance without notice, is the insensitive thing that Jeff was pointing out.

Jeff's point about Smash was never about which game has a bigger audience (he explicitly says this in his discussion with Ben). It's whether there are enough Smash fans who will buy a Switch now, who didn't already with the launch lineup of Zelda, Mario, Splatoon, etc. The overlap is probably fairly large. The Smash fans taking this as an attack need to chill out.

Is something going on with my phone/headphones or are the mics on this episode really hot? I feel like the quality is down a little bit for me.

I know I'm in the minority of DOA fans but it kinda sucks people know so little about it. Tekken introduced stage transition in 6 but it is so dissimilar to what DOA does. Breast physics we're tuned last game too but I'll be glad if it gets taken out completely.

As for auto combo systems the best one ever made was Killer Instinct. It allowed you to play regular even when assist was on.

@zoofame: from the article:

“This has nothing to do with Telltale Games and everything to do with the people involved with making ‘The Walking Dead’ game and trying to take care of them in the meantime the best way we can. That’s the process we are in: Save the game for the fans and provide at least a runway to the team as we finish off the game. This has everything to do with the people who are making the game, and the fans.”

@zoofame:

The Telltale/Skybound thing has been addressed in another post (though I would like to say that I do believe that they are letting their 100% justified opinions of Telltale's management colour their opinion of Skybound, which is separate), so I'll address the Smash thing primarily.

I just relistened. Jeff led by saying that Smash is not one of Nintendo's "big games", which is an opinion he has voiced before. He then changed his tack a little in response to Ben. However there are plenty of sales data pointing out that this is not the case, Smash is responsible for plenty of hardware sales. It is a juggernaut in its own right, bigger than Zelda and almost on a par with core Mario games. And hell, it doesn't look very good but Pokemon Let's Go will absolutely sell Switches to the casual market. And they have a mainline Pokemon game announced. The Switch absolutely has the big guns on the horizon. The worst Nintendo misconception by far is the one that they just have Mario and Zelda and that's it.

@apdls: yeah worst performance was #8 best selling game on Wii and 3DS according to Wikipedia. Otherwise it’s always top 5.

According to this data; http://vgsales.wikia.com/wiki/Best_selling_Nintendo_games

The entire Smash Franchise has sold almost half what the entire Zelda franchise has sold. That’s insane! 100 million vs 40 million in a much smaller time frame.

Also, Animal Crossing franchise has sold almost as much as Smash, and that’s yet to come out.

The juggernauts are Pokemon, Mario, and Zelda. But there’s some big guns lurking close behind.

Horizon 4 has to be pulling from your Xbox account and not a prior save.

The only X1 Forza game I've played before this was Horizon 3, and I had set it to "Bort" in that game. It called me by my real name in Horizon 4.

Hard to listen to that minute or two where they took Robert Kirkman to task for comparing Andrew Lincoln and Clementine when Andrew was not the person that died like they assumed.

“Switch not expected to adopt the OLED found in Apple phones.” You mean the OLED tech provided by Samsung that they’ve been using on their phones for years now?

I always find it weird when people attribute tech that has existed in other brands for ages to Apple.

Ben's comment about being more likely to say good luck have fun if he has a good hand is why I feel all that stuff is so insincere and unnecessary. Feels like 90% of the time, people only say GG when they win. So what's the point? You're not being genuine; you're just saying it because you won.

Butter on pop tarts sounds incredibly unnecessary.
