Just a thought.  We could organize some sort of tournament if enough people are interested.

Hell yeah. I don't have any idea how the online works in Pokemon (don't even have the game yet...), but I'd definitely be up for it if I get my copy in time.

I think I'll stay out of this.  With all the Giant Bomb Street Fighter IV tourneys that went bad, I learned to stay out of online tourneys.  Good luck with this though.  Hopefully we have some Pokemon Masters here in the Giant Bomb community.

I think its too early. The Europeans/Australians haven't gotten the game yet and when we do it will take us a while to get our Pokemon ready for a tournament.

I'm in I got a good group from d/p lvls 70-90

Here are the rules, gents:
 
1) 50 all tournament (meaning all Pokémon would be set back to lvl 50)
2) Doubles, 4 Pokemon selected
3) Can't use two of the same Pokémon
4) No Pokémon that you wouldn't be allowed in the Battle Tower with (eg, Ho-Oh, Groudon, that mess)
5) Can't use two of the same item
6) No Action Replayed Pokémon. Honor system, I suppose, since we can't really tell without an egg check. Having a team full of shinies would give it away, though.

Hell yeah. We should have strict rules though. I need to list my Pokemon code on the thread of this forum still.  
 
 
If it was only 50's and my Pokemon haven't gotten to that level yet, would I still be able to play? Would it just convert their levels?

I would say... wait a month or two. That way people can have beaten the game for a while and have the time to lurk on Serebii and train all their pokemon to level 100. Also, the game hasn't come out in some places. Most of my guys are only level 50 or so. But great idea.

I'll do it but we should give people time. The game just launched and I don't know about anyone else but this is the first pokemon game I have played in 8 years. Whoever is still playing in say 2 weeks should participate in the tournament so that we noobs to the new rule set can adjust and stand a chance to everyone else who is importing legendaries.

Im all for it....  We would need to get an official roster first to see if we have a solid number of people.  64 would be a nice number... or 128.

legendaries were already not allowed, all pokemon levels will be set to 50.  I'm fine with doubles but i'll go with the popular opinion

legendary would include like any of the three legendaries from any game (Articuno Zapdos Moltres) and guys like mewtwo, celebi, dialga, groudon

Btw, there's the option when playing online to level your Pokémon up/down to level 50/100, so there's no reason to worry about what level your Pokémon are when playing online.
