    - Giga Impact
    - Megahorn
    - Close Combat
    - Giga Drain

    Level 53 Alakazam

    - Psychic
    - Thunder
    - Shadow Ball
    - Hyper Beam

Took me a while to get all of the Giga Impact moves. And yes it's possible with these 2 earthquake moves i have, Quagsire learns it, and i can teach it to Typhlosion. And it IS possible to get Blast Burn in SS/HG, the Guide book will explain it.

might want to trade out your Sandshrew for a fire pokemon, a well trained grass pokemon with a bug move or two would ruin your team.

I only started yesterday, so I've got a Quilava, Kadabra, and a Zubat all worthy of raising.

AH, stop rubbing it in my face! It still hasn't come yet! It will be a Typhlosion, Ampharos, Gardevoir, Mawile, Marowak, and Kabutops, but until then I have to wait in AGONY!

I'm not very far. I have a Quilava, Totodile, and Chikorita. I might raise a Geodude too, but I'm not sure who else I should build up.

Jesus Murphy, you guy's are in the 50+ group already?! Wow. I myself am rolling with Croconaw, Pigeotto, Ekans, Onix, and a Flaafy. All my dudes are just about level 20. Great remake, and I love all the upgrades that they've put into it.

    Feraligatr - Lvl 43
Raikou - Lvl 42 (had an ampharos before)
Entei - Lvl 42 (had a vulpix before)
    Lugia - Lvl 45

i have an onix on 38 but decided just to leave it because it totally sucks :E
i catched an swinub to get some nice ice/ground moves but it's a pain in the ass to level it up on those weak-ass wild pokemons

problem is: i'm right infront of the elite 4 now and don't think i stand a chance with the levels i'm on right now
that's exactly what happened when i played my silver version a few years ago... eventually i just lost the motivation

    any ideas?

My team on my import Heartgold consisted of 3 Pokemon:

    Level 49 Typhlosion
    Level 50 Slowbro
    Level 48 Ampharos

I can't remember what moves I taught all of them, and I couldn't read what I taught them even if I wanted to know now, but I think I taught my Slowbro surf, snooze, blizzard, and zen headbutt. I stopped right after beating the elite 4 for the first time because I wanted to actually be able to read the dialogue.

For my english Soulsliver run, I'm only using a level 21 Bayleef at the moment, but I think I know what I'm going to use in my party. I intend on using Slowbro again (amazing tank), Ninetails, Jolteon and some other undecided pokemon. Probably a Alakazam or Gengar and a Heracross for some physical sweeping.

    fielding legendaries? lame.

the only way i've ever beaten the Elite Four on the first try was by having all my guys at level 50 with a well rounded team, (this was fire red) and i believe i had Charizard, Vaporeon, Primeape and Haunter. i had sold all the items i wasn't going to use, and baught loads of full heals, max potions, revives and a few full restores for good measure.
Anyway, everyone faces the Elite Four a few times before they're able to beat them, it's just the nature of the game that unless you played a perfect game and powerleveled the fuck out of your party, you're going to run into this problem. just keep at it, your pokemon will level up as you go, spend every dime you have every time you get money on potions and revives and full heals, and just keep at it. best part about HG/SS is there's a whole other game after you beat the elite 4, so it's totally worth it.

and don't field legendaries, ya big girl.

Growlithe (I have to wait til 48 to evolve him to Arcanine =[ )
    Heracross
    Togetic

Still looking for my 6th, not sure what I want. Any suggestions? I guess I could use a good electric pokemon.

@Editx: go for a Gengar. you can generally get a Ghastly in the Safari Zone (i think it's the grassland with Rocky as bock 1?) Anyway, a ghost/psychic pokemon would balance you out well, and Gengar can learn thunder. failing that, go for Dragonite, if you can find a Dratini, also a great Thunder cantidate, and just a monster of a pokemon in general if you're willing to put in the training.

EDIT: if you need someone to trade Haunter to get said Gengar, PM me your friend code and we'll figure something out.

@pakx:  Yeah, I have a Timid Gengar (Shadow Bolt, Focus Blast, Thunderbolt, Explosion) on my platinum. I just wanted something different for HG since I've been using Gengar for so long. Dragonite sounds good. I haven't used one since R/G/B. My Arcanine is going to have Thunder Fang as well once I evolve it.

I switch out a lot, but right now my highest level guys (and the stalwarts on my team) are low lvl 30s; Croconaw, Scyther, Raticate, and Sandslash.  I rotate in and out of my team (depending on who I'm going up against) a Magby, Flaaffy, Butterfree, Togetic, Onix, and Garadyos.
Looking for a solid Fighting type to rotate in (Tyrogue, possibly) and a reliable Grass type (I have a Paras at Daycare at the moment).

@ImperiousRix: yes they are. when Koabo or whatever his name is asks you to find a sandshrew, the set up is perfect for finding level 17 Kangaskhans. i forget which area has them, but there's no step limit anymore, so just save your safari balls and look around.

Tisn't out in the UK yet, but this is the party I'm planning on having:

    Growlithe/Arcanine
    Bellsprout/Weepinbell/Victreebel
    Seal/Dewong
    Tangela/Tangrowth
    Duduo/Dodrio
    Squirtle/Wartotle/Blastoise

Will most likely change before I get the game. Not sure about Blastoise, will be forever before I can get him and I'd rather use Pokemon I catch myself (that aren't legendaries). Might go for Muk or Weezing instead.

@raiz265:  You're in luck- I happened to beat the elite four with a 47 lugia, 40 meganium, 43 sudowoodo, 42 gyarados, and 42 scyther, and a shuckle, lvl 16 or something. I had 25 hyper potions, 15 revives, 3 ethers, 25 full heals, and 10 full restores. If you don't have enough money for all that stuff, just go back to your mom and pull some more out. Just use items a TON. I had the hardest time with lance, and then with the first psychic guy. He'll force you to use a lot of items. Beat the first guy any way you can, then use entei's fire and lugia's extrasensory for koga, the second guy, poison type. You'll need ethers for the 3rd guy for his fighting pokemon because lugia's aeroblast  and surf is the only way to beat him. The fourth guy is dark. My scyther took care of most of those biotches real quick with x-scisor, but you don't have that, so you might have to rely on feraligatr's hydro cannon or whatever the power water move is. And lugia's aeroblast. Get the ultimate water move from a guy in a house in Blackthorn. And umm, good luck on lance. I used avalanche to beat him, so teach avalanche to somebody with high attack power. That move was the only reason I could beat lance. He would almost kill me, and then The avalanche would kill him first. Then I would need to heal.

I am nowhere near this good yet. I'm still under level 30 on everything. I think I'm just gonna go play SS now.

    Typhlosion lvl. 59
    Lugia lvl. 51
    Bellsprout lvl. 25
    Staryu lvl. 20
    Hoothoot lvl. 10
    Geodude lvl. 3

I actually just beat the elite four for the first time with this team, on my first try. Powered through them all with my first two of course. I don't think geodude would have come in very handy, though he did act as a sacrifice on lance.

EDIT: This is as of 17:55 on the clock, which was the save time after the credits.

These are my pokemon... Some yet to evolve... :D (I'm new to the new pokemon series, last played yellow) My team sound good?
    Chimcar Lv. 1
    Treecko Lv. 1
Vaporean Lv. 1 (( Or maybe i should use squirtle? )) which would be the best stat wise?
    Scizor Lv. 37
    Raichu Lv. 36
    Duskull Lv. 18
Other than Vaporean with Surf, and maybe Treecko with cut (thats a MAYBE), i have other pokemon with the HM's, Machamp for Strength Lv 30 i think, Lv 20 Hoothoot with fly. haha. Oh and my Raichu had flash but i replaced it with Charge Beam. :D

    Yanma Lv. 20
    Raticate Lv. 22
    Croconaw Lv. 23
    Drowzee Lv. 20
Bellsprout Lv. 3 (My flash/cut pokemon, I don't use it for battles)
    Togepi Lv. 1

I'm walking my Togepi around to get max happiness, so at lvl 2 it becomes the next evolved form. After that I just need a stone to go to it's last form. The stats are amazing!

Oh, and Yanma's next form has great stats, Raticate is meh but a good starting pokemon. I'm regreting picking a water pokemon in the beginning though, I could have just gotten a Gyarados.  Drowzee's next form isn't as good as Alakazam or whatever but I don't know if I can trade my pokemon back to me, so I'm stuck with Drowzee. I prefer Gardevior but it's not available in this game.

Avoiding the trade evolve Pokemons since I don't have anyone around me I can trade and retrade my pokemon back.

I just found out I can trade from my copy of Diamond?

Well, I got a Gardevior on that sucker all ready. I guess this means I can also get the trade evolving pokemon.

Well, I guess I need to wait to borrow my cousin's DS though.

I only had the female version of Ralts since Ruby only had the female look, which made me avoid the male version.

Is the male version any good?

Oh, and thanks for the offer, but I guess I'll just reunite with my ol' pal.

Just started but managed to pick up a Geodude to ruin Faulkner with, along with a Cyndaquil (I love fire), Pidgey and Sentret, who I never use and cannot wait to get rid of. What a terrible abortion of a Pokémon. I hate the start of the games, it's always so hard to get into, even as a massive fan.
