I'm torn on which one I should get.  My friends on the
Xbox will be getting it there, but the PC is the tried &
true area for the game & also where I played Portal 1.
Plus I could save a buck.

Yesterday, I saw the game advertised on a billboard
in Downtown Houston.  It was pretty amazing to see
the game advertised that largely next to a major
freeway.

I wasn't planning on getting this game right away but
it looks like it's a must-have game for 2011.  Need to
stop plunging in my backlog & play the latest &
greatest.

I picked up the PC version on amazon for $35.

How do redeem the PC version from the PS3 version?  If it's easy I might do that and trade it in for credit afterwards, not at Gamestop, somewhere else.

For what it's worth, I didn't even know there was a 360 version coming out. 

Buy the PS3 version, get PC version, sell back to gamestop for 30 bucks.

Simple, if you think you want to play co-op with your friends and/or want the achievements from it, get it on the 360.

I will always say PC is the better formate to play a valve game on, I tried to play half-life 2 on the xbox and was the worst shit. However, friends make things 1000x better so go with whatever your friends are using as long as you plan to actually play with them.

I've been having the same PC vs Xbox dilema myself. I was considering getting both for a while. But I'll probably get it on Xbox to play with my chums. Even if it does come out on PC earlier here. 

Buy the combo pack on Steam with one another friend.

Depends, co-op is a pretty big factor so go with the platform your friends will play/make sure you meet the min or recommended specs for pc.

It's good advice. Half this game seems co-op. That is the half I'll miss.

For me though it's Pc. Perhaps they willl even have controller option, which may or may not be a good way to go on Pc

i say buy the PC version. i bought orange box for xbox 360 when it came out. later i bought portal 1 for PC, i enjoyed the PC version so much better for some reason. the PC version is going to be better but i think you might want to play on xbox 360 so you can play with your friend. you will probably also find a friend from steam version also.

Gabe Newell will haunt you in your sleep if you arent playing Valve games on Steam.
So 360 is a no go for me.

I came here to ask this exact question. I'm getting it on the PC because it'll be cheaper, and the DLC will be free. On the 360 the DLC would cost 10 bucks if it comes out at all. I was really disappointed by L4D2 on the Xbox. I don't want sourness between Valve and Microsoft to ruin my experience again.

Get it on Xbox if you want to play with your friends.  Get it on the PC if you want your preferred format, and likely free DLC later on.  You must choose, do you wish to play for social reasons, or ideal version for single play?

There is a file in the Portal 2 folder that says Split Screen config... But that may be for the console versions and they just haven't taken it out... Like the files that say PS3.

The co-op is the only reason I picked the 360 version. I have way more friends on the 360 as opposed to the PS3 or PC. Im sure I'll eventually pick it up on the PC when Steam has one of their crazy sales.

went to Amazon & saw $5 off & $20 in store credit for the 360 version & today
being the last day to pre-order to get the benefit...I just said fuck it & bought
Portal 2 on the 360.  I hope that in my allotted time schedule I'll be able to dig it
with some of my friends, but who knows?  Everyone buys their games at different
times.  I don't always buy a game on release, only when I get that rare urge that I
need to play it immediately on release (which is few & far between).

Perhaps I'll get a PC version later.  I really hope I made the right choice for the
360 though.  I do tend to agree that Valve games are probably best through the
almighty Steam.    :\

The only thing you will miss is all those steamworks features on the PS3or the regular updates that will likely be on both the PC and PS3.Don't expect regular updates (or maybe none at all) forthe 360 due to Microsoft's strict rules on updating.Finally as a serious question, are you reallymaking shorter sentences just becauseyou have a personal habit of doingit?  Or are you using a smalleditor or something whichresults in shortersentences?I just don'tgetit. Well..that was creative!The topic title is Xbox or PC, not Xbox, PC, PS3!  I don't own a PS3,so yah, I'm screwed on that choice.  It's a bit funny as Valve used tobe PC/360 only & now it treats the PS3 better than its Xbox fans.I think the next generation consoles are just around the corner(2012?), so I don't plan on buying any new Consoles.  I'm just gonnawait for the new shit.  And if Softy keeps tapping my wallet forevery little fucking detail that is free or cheaper or better in someways everywhere else, I will cross over to the PS3 world or revert back to being a PC hermit.Currently I just say "fuck you" to DLC.  Though it eliminates thechances for S-Rank, I'll just have to take my lumps.
