Introduced in MK II, these new finishers would no longer kill or brutally beat down your opponent. Instead, your character would present them with a gesture of love and friendship, much to the announcer's disappointment.
These are endings that aren't just good, but they give you everything you could want. The world is saved, the hero gets the girl, friendships are made that will last forever, everyone is safe, the villain is gone for good, and all loose ends are wrapped up forever.... unless a sequel is made.
When a character or group of characters does something extremely brave on behalf of another character or group of characters, knowing that they will get killed or seriously injured in the process.
The single most important thing in the world, love is a powerful story telling element that can connect characters or drive a story. There are many video game characters who have fallen in love with someone or something.

Pep Squad is a term used to describe (typically supporting) characters who are energetic and spunky and cheer on the other characters. More common in RPGs, Pep Squad characters are known for being overly sweet, childish, and upbeat.
These are the characters who may or may not wind up in a relationship with the protagonist of the game. Sometimes the player gets to choose if this relationship will develop, while in other instances it is just left up to your imagination at the end of the game.
An important game mechanic in the Persona series. Social links represent the people you meet, and each are associated with a single Arcana. It is called Community in the Japanese versions.
A relationship mechanic present in latter games in the Fire Emblem series. Characters may form bonds, granting them stat bonuses when in close proximity on the battlefield.
