Man! I miss when this was a Dan and Drew thing.

This could have been so fun if this was Alex, Dan and Vinny.

Abby screaming over everyone at the end is the most annoying thing in recorded history

TL;DR: Abby Screams =

I don't like when we're being so critical of the staff, especially the new staff, but Abby's scream during Exquisite Corps #1 made my tinnitus really bad for the rest of that day.

Like, a Giant Bomb video detrimentally affected my day...

It nearly happened again on one of the Sunshine videos, but I was more prepared for it that time. It doesn't feel good being on edge while trying to enjoy the content.

It takes less than a second to move away from the microphone and let out a scream. I still hear it, I still know it's there, but my ears don't need to be victim to it...

Anyway, rant over. ARRRRRGGGHHHHHH!

Jeez... That homeless guy, when talking about the epidemic, explains it as people afraid to face the future - and that it happens at the end of every century. 11 years after this movie, 'Y2K' was a thing. Terrific observation from Carpenter.

Saw this on TV when I was a kid during the mid-90s on a hotel TV somewhere. It terrified me.

Watched it a decade ago, loved it.

Watching it now, I can see how stupid it can be.

But I feel the message is still good and as relevant today. The mass working class at the time of this movie has slowly eroded, replaced with a younger, less politicised, more distracted and slightly richer aspirational class.

You can easily spot which of our hosts fit in with this package. ;)

@alex: Yup, good comment. Glad you've taken it on-board! I think people who have played this game remember the pain of having a playthrough abruptly end after many hours of hard 'work'. The only way I actually played XCOM: EU/EW was with Ironman (according to Steam, 295 hours worth of Ironman play) so I'm speaking from a lot of painful experience here when it comes to the adjacency bonus stuff. I guess I don't want this show to end 'prematurely' (or, pre-deterministically speaking, 'on-time') because it's great and I want more of it.

If Commander Vinny is a ghost, think of us as echoes of a failed future past. I'm sure we'll have shuffled off and embraced the anarchy circa episode 4.

I don't really care about the combat/cover mistakes, people getting killed, etc. Burn it down and have fun. Create 50 medkits. Research in whatever order you feel like. Sacrifice Dan Ryckert for the good of humanity (even if he resists).

<SPOILER>

I had a moment of panic (Alex missing out on satellite adjacency bonus), followed by joy (Alex realised he had another free construction site), then depression (Alex built the workshop in the space under the satellite uplink).

<SPOILER ENDS>

If Vinny is checking this out, note for ya: get 'em to read the text a bit more and rely on you less. Satellite Uplink's text describes its adjacency bonus (I.e. bonus for when two satellite uplinks are built beside one another) which is very, very useful and could be critical to the health of your mission to shoot the alien people.

Other than that, I love this. However, can I recommend you do two battles per episode?

If you guys complete this, it's gonna go on way too long. I reckon two battles will take every episode to around about an hour which, in all honesty, is still totally fine and shorter than other serials you do.

Later missions do take longer, but you could cross that bridge when you reach it.

Yeah, please don't keep re-adding the same people over and over. Totally misses the fun of the likes of Dave Langzone, Ellen Degenerrationx...esess(?) and the inevitable team/stable of Dan, Waluigu, Big 'Vape' Show and Dr. Tracksuit.

EDIT: Although I'm totally all for 'variants' like Annie Russell, Daddy Caravella, Margaret, Jeremiah, Snake Face, etc.

I've found Ben to be quite divisive, subtractive and inconsequentially post-attractive. I loved him in this, and everything else apart from this, but there's just a lot of hatred of the love I have for him out there. It's too little. Abby I hated from the start (with love), but now find myself loving Abby without unconditional hate. They are threats, posing no danger to anyone but themselves with their brain-rotting, highly corrosive psychodabble. 10/10, will never listen to again. As the other lapsed Catholics have attested to already, I also lost it at Rorie's priest impersonation. Thanks for the memories.

I watched someone streaming Fortnite, they made it seem that the menus felt really confusing.

I listened to this podcast, they made it seem that the menus felt really confusing.

I played Fortnite, and I did think the menus felt really confusing.

But after two hours of playing Fortnite, I did not think the menus were really confusing.

I just thought the menus were dense, rather than being really confusing.

Kind of like this comment which, I'm sure, has been really confusing.

But it's just dense, instead of being really confusing.

FINALLY! MURDER! Just as I'm heading to, err, bed.

Vinny, you have saved the local townspeople from my oft insatiable lust for blood. For one night anyway. Thank you.

@rossco81: And yet it honestly could have ended with Dan getting the win. Not only that, but Dan got his first solo win directly after finishing the last squad game with 7 kills. So, evidently, it must have provided Dan with something that he was missing in his 'loot + avoid' strategy of, what, 70-80 hours of prior gameplay? That last squad game was the best they've looked across all of the streams.

I'd like to see them mix it up - some chaos to get warmed up, and then some reserved play. I think this is what Jeff is trying to get across. However, this time they just never stopped warming up. Since it's hopefully back as a regular Monday night thing now, next week should be a good one.
