As much as it's a shame I never understand why people start these project. Lord of the Rings is a property making a massive faceless corporation a lot of money, did anyone really think Warner Bros. would say "Yeah! That's cool! Make money off our property, we don't care!".

They're not making money off of the project though. Absolutely no one is getting paid for their work on the mod. If you visit the developer website, the headline says "Not for profit, all volunteer."

If a group infringes a copyright, and is trying to make money off of it, by all means, do what you can to take them down, but MERP isn't making any money. It's a labor of love to the fans that can only bring more people into the LOTR universe, which would most likely get people to buy official "merchandise".

MERP (Middle Earth Roleplaying Project), a massive total conversion mod for Skyrim that has been in development for several years (it started out as a mod for Oblivion), has been served a Cease and Desist order by Warner Brothers.

The mod website (still up at the time of this tip) is here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/merp-middle-earth-roleplaying-project

One of the developers had this to say to the fans:

"MERP fans: We are aware that you have waited patiently for our news. Recently we have received a Ceast & Desist letter from Warner Brothers Entertainment, and in a disappointment shared among our team we are complying with that request. We are avidly seeking a resolute course to continue modding, but we cannot at this time discuss this publicly and with that I urge you to please be patient and hopeful that we will find a way."

Myself, and hopefully others from the MERP Moddb page are trying to make the rounds to the major gaming sites to spread the word. We're thinking that if we can get enough negative publicity towards Warner Brothers, they might take the Cease and Desist back. Hopefully they'll see reason in this issue.

Thanks for reading, please spread the word! :D

" I've made it my mission to murder every musician that runs up and gets it my way as I go about my dirty work.  Oh, and I don't like them in the game either. Stabby stab stab. "
This. I just grab them, beat them a couple of times, then curbstomp. If this doesn't work then repeat, but with lathering this time :P

" I loved that there were so many more Assassination side missions than anything else. Definitely some of the most fun side stuff to do. Personally I'd suggest people leave them until they complete the game and then go back to them. "
That's what I've been doing. The sad thing is, as soon as I'm done with them I'll have to do the races and gather feathers. *sarcastically said* fun.

has nobody played Mirror's Edge? They seemed to do well with a mix of Parkour (sp?) and little gunplay. Or at least I enjoyed it.

For some reason, you could do the grab move on the pope so he was super easy.  Just grab, punch him to the ground, curb stomp, repeat.  I actually killed him before he could finish his speech. "
haha same.

" BTW we should think of a name to call Minervas people for now so we don't have to call the aliens or god. "

I agree. I suggest Provectus, Latin for Advanced or The Advanced. Some of you may be wondering now, "why not just call them 'the advanced?" My answer: because Provectus sounds a lot cooler haha. Although I think the the game they are referred to as he Ones Who Came Before (OWCB)
When this Entity died, her name was Minerva. This alone should provide enough information.  But I will give you a few hints;   1) Time line  2)  http://www.timelessmyths.com/classical/roman.html  3) She mentioned Betrayal.
Um, how does that answer anything? We are trying to come up with a name for Minerva's people or species, since they are neither gods nor aliens. I wasn't trying to come up with a name for Minerva because we already know her name is Minerva. :P

Bearded, it's like Hitler's 'stache, he's nothing without it haha.

But seriously, for me it represents Ezio's growing up into an older and wiser man.
