I remember when this podcast first started. Rarely did the hosts talk about anything other than video games. While that wasn’t always what I wanted from the crew, I always had the Bombcast to listen to when I wanted to hear information about video game news and the opinions of the duders.

I am listening to this episode as I write this comment, waiting for the crew to get to the video games. I have now hit 9:00 minutes. So far they have only talked about people that I don’t know, restaurants that I don’t know, and anything they can to not talk about video games.

This is the same thing that happened to IGN, GameSpot, Waypoint, Kinda Funny and nearly every other video game site I have been a fan of over the years. Bummer.

I am now at 13:00 minutes and they STILL are just rambling. Grubb said they wanted the bombcast to be “more fun for lack of a better word” on Game Mess the other day. While I can see how some people could enjoy this, I am not here for parasocial relationships with y’all. I respect y’alls desire to change but this is not the direction that I personally enjoy. I do not know how much longer I will be able to listen to the Bombcast.

Wut. Jeff Gerstmann and crew generally went on a hour long tangent about fast food or wrestling or whatever every episode.

The Twitter poll thing is kinda weird. E3 has been notoriously awful for PC gaming, so I'm not sure why anyone would think the Steam Next Fest is associated with that. I would have voted no on that poll even though I played dozens of demos on Steam.

Uh,

I think the last two years the Steam Demo thing was directly associated with Geoff's event.

Also not sure how E3 is awful for PC gaming when 99% of the games shown are coming to PC and PC gets the best version of everything too.

While I get what Tam is saying, honestly from what I've seen the simple controls in SF6 are still basically for when you're having a party night with people who don't play fighting games and just want to have fun time pressing buttons and seeing cool stuff happen. But if you actualy want to learn the game you might as well start getting used to the normal controls off the bat.

Pretty good show, IMO it did lack some hype factor because it's all stuff that's out relatively soon and mostly known about, but like Jeff said it's hard because they have so much stuff in the works already that's 2023/2024.

I get that you don't like rick and morty but shitting on the game felt so mean.

Ever since the Szechuan sauce thing, anything R&M related has been on the outs in terms of pop culture as people rush to make distance so that everyone knows they aren't "one of those" fans. It became one of those properties that's more popular to dislike than it is to actually engage with, and Roiland's style is permanently tied to it.

The Borderlands comparison falls flat because while they're both in the same vein of very random, rapid-fire, in-your-face sort of comedy, the R&M writing is actually pretty clever and funny most of the time.

Sometimes I think y'all could benefit from playing like... a Ys game or something whenever JRPGs are brought up on the pod. If you want a fast, fairly straightforward game whereupon the numbers do go up which lasts less than 20 hours, may I recommend Ys Origin or Oath in Felghana. It's not like every single example of the genre is some ponderous animation-heavy turn-based affair which lasts 80 hours.

While more people should plays Ys, it's and action rpg, when people talk about jrpgs they generally don't mean any rpg made in Japan, they generally mean the classic FF/DQ style (party based/turn based/random encounters etc etc)

The song from Peggle is Beehoven's Ode to Joy.

Also that enemy was a mole not a seal Rorie.

I thought the Sony state of play was actually pretty packed given that it was only 20 minutes, I think the main issue is more (aside from overhyping yourself) that this type of showcase would be fine in a vacuum, but less so if you wait like half a year for the next one.

Kinda funny Jeff didn't realize the light beam waypoint thing when I thought that was obvious from when they showed it in the first trailer.

Also feel Bakalar/Jan were kind of overselling how much of a commitment this it, Horizon 2 and Dying Light 2 will probably take most people about as long.
