Bad Company 2 and Dead Space/Dead Space 2 have already gotten several mentions. Backing those up 100%.

I recently played through Fatal Frame 2 for the first time and I thought the sound design was great. The creepy music, the light moan of wind blowing through abandoned houses, the way a ghost's voice was completely different from another's based on the way they died; the strangled schoolgirl had a raspy, quiet voice from a crushed windpipe and the drowned lady just sort of gurgles out wet, distant "help me"s.

Not the question you were asking, but if you build your PC yourself you could save a SHITLOAD of money. There's no point in buying an Alienware if you could get the equivalent for several hundred dollars less and a little work.

That said, if it's anything like the original, you'd be out of your mind to go for the console version if your PC can handle it.

I'm pretty sure they just go to that "translate between languages a billion times" website these days.

I watched some footage on the youtubes, and it has me super excited about the game when I was just on the edge before. I probably wouldn't have purchased it if not for that video, so... great?

The thread was over here, I'm not sure why anybody even bothered posting after this.

I'm getting mixed messages here.

" It's pretty good, looks like I'm playing a female Hawke, btw, how does the male sound? Is he better than Mark Meer? "
Considerably. It's the same voice actor who portrayed Bann Teagen. The ginger fellow during Redcliffe, brother of the Arl. "
Nice to hear, then I might play both, disliked the male Shepard so much because of Mark Meer, Jennifer Hale was alot better "
I disagree. I thought Hale was terrible. "
what? compared to that bland asshole meer? Hale was significantly better. at least hale knows how to emote "
More like Hale knows how to over act and try too hard to sound tough. Shes perfect in other roles, but femshep. Nosir. "
I couldn't play male shepard because he's literally one of the most bland voice actors I've ever heard. "
I couldn't play female shepard because it's literally the worst case of a voice actor trying to sound like a tough and rugged soldier and failing I've ever heard. "
You just hate women. That's all.

Fights can be won without pausing, but some of the tougher ones will certainly be MUCH easier if you play it smart, pause and issue orders, tank, etc. I played on normal and hard so I can't speak for the lower difficulty settings but I would assume that just as usual, pausing will help, but will rarely ever be required.

" Hate to just post this, but it's kind of relevant and something I really want to know...   So, can you actually play on PC with mostly real-time, and pause during tougher fights?  Or is it pretty much strictly pausing? "
You pause when you want. The game will always be in real time until you decide to pause it, and it will stay paused until you unpause it.

Personally I think it looks amazing; I don't get all of the hate for this game. Sequels are supposed to be different.

Having spent another 30 minutes with this game I can say with certainty that this is the least fun I've had playing a video game in a long time. The ISA feels severely underpowered, the controls are unresponsive and wonky, the balance is all over the place...
