100% agree w/Alex regarding Stadia and big tech companies in general; they think cool tech just being extant is enough for success and don't want to put in the legwork in tandem with it. Google threw this technology out there, and people didn't take to it, so they are basically doing a shrug emoji and backpedaling out of the market.

I definitely agree with the folks reppin' that Yu-Gi-Oh game on Switch; I'm a dilettante of anime card battling but I like that game quite a bit.

Just putting in a word to say that I would absolutely love to watch you play Billy Hatcher if you can get it setup Jan.

I have an unhealthy obsession with William Hatcher, I don't know why, I just love that dang game. I replayed it about a year ago and had a great time. Sonic Team, enough with the Sonic games, gimme a Billy Hatcher 2 on Switch, please!

Also, it would really fit the vibe of the early in the day breakfast stream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=678-SSKXI_Q

It's okay, you don't have to reference Fine CBS Properties (tm) anymore :)

Not surprised Shiren ticks a lot of the Berlin classification checkboxes. That series is probably my favorite of the genre.

A lot of the more modern interpretations of the genre are totally valid too, maybe we need to update the classification system for 2021 :P

I had not heard of Fae Tactics, but it sounds up my alley, thanks for shouting it out Jan. You are the one true yakisoba pan angel.

If you are chasing that FFT high, and have not played Fell Sell: Arbiter's Mark, I would wholeheartedly recommend it to you.

I was looking forward to these, but now that they are here I just can't listen to people discuss and argue the merits of video games given our current state of affairs. It all seems to trivial. Maybe in a few months...

I wasn't sure if I was just broken inside or what (yes, probably), but I'm totally in this same headspace right now. No shade to the GB crew or anything though! This is like the first time in a decade where I just have no desire to listen to the GOTY conversations at all.

I have really been enjoying the guest lists though! Cool to discover some games I'm not familiar with and also see people's thoughts on games I liked that are much better writers than me, haha. I guess because the lists are just from individuals they just feel more positive and celebratory, rather than petty/nitpicking discussion.

I'm with you, I feel like this is something I will come back to in the middle of 2021 or so and watch.

I only dabble in anime here and there, but I adored Eizouken!!! Just a very uplifting and fun show all around. And as Pat said, it really puts the medium to use in a lot of cool ways.

The opening credits song is a bop too! I ended up checking out the album it is off of, the whole thing is great.

Always a pleasure to read Mike's list! Definitely 100% correct on Carrion nailing the feeling of locomotion and controls, it struck me almost immediately when I started playing it. How a game "feels" can sometimes be so nebulous, but Carrion is basically perfect in that regard.

I had not heard of In Other Waters, but it sounds really intriguing, I'll have to check that out.

I really want to play Carto, I should move that to the top of my "to play" list. Seems like a very charming and fun puzzle game.

Very excited to see someone discovering Chulip, I love that game. Pretty sure I mentioned it in the comments of the "Moon" quick look as well haha. It definitely touches on a wide range of issues under the goofy premise.

Still wild to me that it was one of the few PS2 games that Sony released digitally on PS3, a very obscure choice (along with stuff like GrimGrimoire). But that's definitely nice since PS2 copies are a bit expensive nowadays. One fun thing about the PS2 copy is that the instruction manual basically has hints and a full walkthrough of the game - which is fair, the game can be a bit obscure on what to do here and there.

Love your daughter's fan art, the SoR4 one is especially awesome.

I actually got way into Dungeon Warfare 1 pretty recently, picked it up for 2 bucks on the Switch and I really love it. Dungeon Keeper crossed with Orcs Must Die! is the exact comparison I made as well. I didn't know there was a sequel but I will definitely look into it after I finish all the levels in the first game :)
