I agree with you but isn't this thread itself only contributing to the problem? It's just going to start another argument. Complaining about complaining just gives more attention to those who so desperately seek it.
@turbomonkey138: I'm not the one complaining. I just think it's interesting that if you defend someone because you share their beliefs that it's something negative (and vaguely homophobic), but criticizing them is some triumphant action that is to be looked upon as heroic.
@VilhelmNielsen: I'm thinking of something that will have an end payoff that will benefit me or teach me a skill. Sure I could lose a couple of pounds, but I'm already exercising in the evenings. Something like... I don't know what do kids do these days... whittling? Macrame?
" GB has lost my respect a while ago . to many people sucking dick around here "
Yet I still frequently post here... :ProblemOfficerFace:
So if sucking dick is defending someone whose views you agree with, what is criticizing them? Ass-fucking them? You wish Giant Bomb had more ass fucking? Just no A2M please.
@teh_pwnzorer: Don't get me wrong. This is just why I think it is the way it is, I couldn't care less who they casted because I'm not going to go see it. Unless they casted Jeff Goldblum as the Prince. I would see that.
@Mono_Listo: I took a sociology of film class once and learned that, shockingly enough, certain actors fill certain roles. Black actors have come a long way and can totally be accepted as "heroes." But look at women. How often do you see a powerful woman lead in say, an action-crime-drama movie? How about a middle eastern man? An Asian (in an American film at least). Now compare these all to the times you see a Caucasian male filling that role. Sure a lot has changed even in the past 10-15 years, but the subtle residue of indirect racism still exists in many Americans.
" You understand ultimately the casting choice had nothing to do with this, though. The Prince is white because more people are comfortable with a white protagonist in English speaking countries. Likewise, that's why he's got a vaguely british accent. The reality of Persia is kind of just a coincidence, I'd wager. "
Similar to this, but less cynical. Every single move in the movie industry is thought through so intensely that nothing is ever done accidentally. I'm sure Jake G. was the final choice out of a very similar (white) group of actors to play the prince.
My only problem with the film is that they didn't get Prince to play the prince. Or Freddy Prinze Jr.
As of this week, I am officially done with school. Forever. And aside from a summer job that ends at 1:oo in the afternoon and a web-based internship, my summer is completely open. I'm used to managing a college newspaper so the concept of "free time" to me is foreign and a bit frightening. Aside from hanging out with friends, what are some good non-expensive things to do? I've been playing a metric ton of Street Fighter and catching up on reading, but some of you have cheap and fun hobbies, so I want to hear 'em and know how to get in on them.
