I played it last year and still like it. That my opinion. I like it for its strengths in spite of its weaknesses. That's what being a fan of something is.
This whole conversation is the main reason why I stay away from media of things I like. Sometimes it's people being positive and optimistic. But others, its just people tearing down things I like and it's just annoying.
I don't know why I bother. I'm not going to change your mind that you're not going to change mine.

I really have a soft spot for this game. Is not my favorite game in the series. the title goes to KH2. As kid loved both Final Fantasy and Disney movies and getting to playthrough a Cliffsnote's version of the those movies was awesome to me.I know I have played this game at least 5 times on different difficulties. The only really problem i have with this game in particular, is its platforming. Even that is largely negated by just getting a feel for it. I cant really speak much on this game's level design, as I have played to this game to the point where I have it all memorized. Now its hard for me to get a prospective of someone who doesn't know them.
But you said its bad, so i guess it can't like it anymore.

As a man who has worked in a deli for a good number of years let me tell you Dan is totally right. Pickles suck. I used to yearn for the moment I got to leave work and wash the essence of pickle juice from my hands. Yuck.
While I liked the episode, the talk about DC heroes and villains felt cringe-worthy at best to me. Thank you Vinny for saying (something to the effect of) "How is it you don't know this stuff?"
are people supposed to know what's going on in DC comics? I mean, I don't expect people to know what's going on in F1.
Nope. I read them and I don't know what's going on in them half the time. Knowing something about the characters (especially when it's easy to look them up) adds perspective to the review (in my opinion). Otherwise they could just as easily be reviewing the newest Mortal Kombat.
But their conversation wasn't a review. It was just a conversation between people that have no knowledge of a topic, which is totally OK to do. They stated they have no knowledge of it several times and were just taking the characters at face value. It doesn't really matter how easy it is the learn about the characters. If you don't really have that initial spark to learn about it, then that drive to learn about just wont be there.
I've learned there is a certain helpful mindset to have as a fan of nearly any genre of thing. No matter how much you love a thing, there are people who not only don't know about it, they might actively think it is fucking stupid. Chances are. it probably is. And that is OK. The sooner you learn that the better and happier you'll be in your fandom.
I'm aware that I'm in the minority, I'm definitely in the camp of thinking Persona 5 is a good but not great game.
The positives of the game definitely outweigh its negatives but I can't say it negatives are a bummer.
I said this somewhere before but I really dont care for the characters this time around. Most of them are either 2D or poorer rehashes of past Persona characters. I kept waiting love or even like any of them and it just never happened for me. This made some of the longer meandering cutscenes (school trip) a pain to get through. Every time I heard one of these characters say the phrase, "rotten adult", made me cringe. Who talks like that?
The Persona games have never really been the pinnacle of storytelling and after being underwhemed by the characters, the story itself really didnt do it for me either. None of the game's villains really brought out any strong emotions either way in me and I hated the fact that you can see the twists in the story coming from orbit.
At this point in my busy life the fact that I can play this game for 100 hours and still need a second playthrough to actually do everything bugs me. I'll be god damned if I play another 80 hours anytime soon.
Having said all that, this game has the best battle system out of all the Persona games. Its music is incredible and has been permanently added to my workout playlist. But more than a anything this game has styyyyyllllee.
@shtinky: yeah I totally feel bad for the computer-generated person that looks like someone hit the random button a bunch of times until they got something a kind of liked.
