I haven't played Rivals of Aether, but I feel compelled to say that there was actually a Smash Bros. style Guilty Gear game on the DS. Guilty Gear Dust Strikers. It wasn't amazing but, the comparison Ben's friend gave him made me think of it.
I had stopped watching the Murder Islands cause I was tired of seeing them hide in houses and then die, but with the Spicy Style talk on the podcast, and the Pants Mutiny here, I'm going to have to go back and watch what I've missed.
@danryckert I see you with those head shakes at the end.
And, I seem to remember you guys saying at the start of this that you were prepared for some rough gameplay, but were going to do the whole series. You wouldn't back out of that would you Dan???
You guys are the best, thanks for all the great videos!
Holy shit, the game's over and people are still telling them how to play.
I do really hope you guys continue this series when Kiwami comes out! Maybe have Alex play (not because Dan was bad at it, he just seemed a bit burned out at the end) since he seems the most invested. I picked up on a lot of story stuff that I had missed while playing, by watching you guys.
I haven't played it in a few years, but I think I'll dig out my copy and give it a whirl because of this feature. Also, if you have the time, this is a really fun game to watch speedruns of.
Also, Dan, I was with you until you said Sunshine is better than Luigi's Mansion. That's probably my favorite GCN game, and I play it once a year.
The locked sections of the ability trees are unlocked by beating the Five Billionaires and the Five Stars for Kiryu and Majima, respectively.
Also, on yakuza tattoos. I could be wrong on parts of this, but they're not so much an indicator of rank in an organization, so much as an indicator of wealth and success. As anyone with even a full sleeve can tell you tattoos aren't cheap. Particularly in Japan where for a long time tattoo shops were illegal, so you had to have connections to even get one. Gangsters would typically get them done over a long period of time, since they wouldn't be able to do them in one session, so they can also be a bit of a sign of how long a person has been in the gang.
