I feel like a number of the older quick looks were like this some years ago and I always liked this format. To me there are a lot of games better served by getting to see the opening fresh, rather than having someone experienced go in and explain all the menus in detail and try to dance around story beats later in the game. I know it doesn’t work for every type of game but for this it’s great. I’ll be avoiding the quick look proper and just watching this.

@cannedstingray: I sometimes feel the way you do about Jeff’s negativity but man after fiddling around in this game by myself for an hour I don’t think he was negative enough. What garbage. If I’d paid $60 for this game (as I was going to before GamePass saved me) I would have been pissed.

I LOVE Dynasty Warriors but only need to buy one every few iterations. 3 and 8XL were the two peaks of the series for me with the low point being 6 ( if I remember correctly) I would definitely like to know more about this one than they bother to show here, as the open world format could be complete garbage or it could be the thing that breathes fresh life into the series. Guess I’ll have to spend money to find out.

As far as what people like about the series? To me it’s a loot game, not that much different from Diablo except the combat is actually more active. You run around levels killing tons of enemies, pick up new weapons and armor, level-up and do it again. It’s a fun loop. And DW has more characters, weapons and content than most games I can think of, rough though the edges may be.

Vinyl is not gone at all. Actually ITS selling way better than ever before.

It may be selling better than it has in decades but it certainly isn't selling "better than ever before". Top selling LPs these days do numbers in the 50,000 range but back in the pre-walkman era of the 60s and 70s, vinyl records would sell in the tens of millions.

@alavapenguin: The teleporting thing is kind of necessary - at least as an option. I'd say about 1 in 4 players gets nauseous from free movement. VR tolerance is a thing that can be built up though - the more you play the less risk of nausea for many people - so as developers are getting more daring in their implementation of free movement. I don't have much trouble with free movement myself, though it does depend somewhat on how well rested I am and whether I've properly eaten.

I will say that teleporting isn't as bunk as you think. The experience of being "in" a place really mitigates the idea of teleportation breaking immersion. It's not my preferred method of movement in VR, but it's not as game breaking as it seems from the outside.

I am so confused. Did they really just stick some new VO over an old strike and call it new content? It's been a while but literally nothing looks new about this mission. I keep waiting for it to veer off into some new area but it just doesn't! Did Dan press the wrong button? That HAS to be it, right?

I just don't get the Spelunky love. I didn't find that game fun at all. Oh well, glad everyone else is so excited. (Though not looking forward to how bored I'm going to be of every site running daily Spelunky 2 videos for 6 months.)

I thought PT was boring AF and practicality broken. No idea why anyone found it fun or frightening at all.
