I kept waiting for a throwaway Sonic reference, but it never materialized. Good stuff.

"Where in Montana" is actually a totally reasonable question, because eastern Montana (Billings, Miles City) and western Montana (Kalispel, Missoula, Glacier National Park) are completely different, and would play completely differently in a game. Forested and extreme mountains are quite different from cattle-grazed prairies :)

And, strangely, I'm not and have never been a Montanan, so please don't read this as an irate Montanan defending his home state.

Well, maybe someday I'll be a Montanan. Time will tell.

Montanan. It's a fun word.

I don't know if there's ever been a game that disrespects the viewers' time as much as this.

30 minutes of build up to 30 seconds of dying and back to the start.

And it's been like this every single stream, every single run.

There's also never been a game more tailor made for the Best Of feature because you can cut out 98% of the two hour run time and miss nothing of value.

Several of my friends feel this way about PUBG generally. One in particular absolutely hates the pacing of the game. And hey, she's not wrong, but to me all that empty time positively impacts the moments when the action heats up. It's like listening to a whole symphony, or to a whole prog album. Are there parts that I like better than others? Yeah, of course. But I like those parts better for having experienced what came first, and what will come after. If I skipped right to those sections of an album they wouldn't hit me as hard.

I agree that if a person only has ten minutes to spare these streams aren't a good choice. A best-of cut would provide a lot more value for each minute spent watching. For me, though, the highs wouldn't be as high and the lows wouldn't be as low. These obviously aren't everybody's cup of tea, but they are mine.

All that being said, I did feel that this particular episode was far and away the worst of the PUBG streams the GB folks have put out. It's the only one that made me question why I was watching it.

@linne: Looks like a manual jump to me, although pretty likely still unintentional - it's not hard to jump by accident in SC, and occasionally you dodge an attack with it and feel super good about it. Mostly it just leaves you open though.

That was unquestionably a manual jump (it's just block + up, if I remember correctly) but I would also guess that it was serendipitous. That string is easily blockable (without perfect jump timing) by standing block, crouching block, standing block. Every time Dan does it I cringe, because years of playing the game make that chain totally obvious to me when of course it's not obvious to a new player. That's the thing with a defensive strategy, like Vinny is using. If you're on offense you either need to understand your character well or just fluster your opponent, and that's about it. If you're on defense you need to understand the other character really well, which really means you need to understand every character very well, be able to read their attacks, and know what they can chain into.

I love this game so much.

Vinny needs to learn when to sidestep and when to block. Also stop using the d pad, this isn't MK.

D Pad for life.

Back in college I'll bet I played this game for an hour or more a day for several years; it was the go-to after dinner ritual for the people in my hall.Watching this game be played between people who have put in hundreds of hours against one another, especially with characters like Xianghua, is such a treat. It's like watching a choreographed dance.

But, yeah, Vinny could do with more sidestepping. Rolling out of the prone state sometimes is important. I think he especially needs to pay attention to positioning. Dan is very much looking for ring outs, and Vinny would be well served by more aggressively defending his position or by at least pivoting away from the edge when he approaches it.

Huh. I started out excited for Horizon a couple years ago, but had since convinced myself it was just a Far Cry in a more interesting world. With this new information I may have to let a friend of mine know that I'd like the PS4 that he's been borrowing for the past year back for a while. :) I hope the eject button still works; I doubt the Bloodborne disc has been out of that thing since April 2015.

Real question about the PS4 vs PS4 Pro thing, though. Is it reasonably smooth on an "old" PS4? I've gotten pretty spoiled by this PC thing that I'm typing on.

Are there colorblind options? I could see those gates being hard to tell which gate corresponds to which line for folks with colorblindness.

For what's it's worth, I'm colorblind and in watching the quicklook the gates weren't a problem for me. There are different kinds of colorblindness, of course.

Thanks for thinking of us!

1. ALttP

2. ALBW

3. LoZ

4. Zelda 2

5. Wind Waker

Yep! Maybe I'd put Zelda 2 in the #3 position?
