Well, I bought Dragon Age Origins

I did it. But for which platform? I bought it for the PC, thinking it could be the last great game for a rig that has brought me much gaming goodness for so many years.

I thought I was going to buy Batman: Arkham Asylum for my 360, but I've had enough of dual analog fun with Assassin's Creed 2, which I'm still playing. My Wii always gets plenty of love, most recently, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. The Wii wants more from me and with a birthday looming, I see more Wii titles on the way.

I did it though, the last great game I'll buy for my aging PC.

Wish us well.

Developers look at Metacritc more than GotY.

Game of the Year for developers seems to be more like thanks for the memories and a feather in the hat where as Metacritic and its ilk seems to still play a major roll in a developers life after release.

Will the concurrent scoring mechanism still reign supreme in the future? Will developers look ominously at the score and allow them to be apart of the business of video games? Is GotY nothing more than entertainment and a quote for the next video game edition?

I've been entertained by the GotY behemoth, but are the developers? Hell, their quarter is not up, so they probably don't care. Scores, money and dare I say it... trends are their wishes with releases.

I'm not bashing Metacritic for I find it a nice resource for video game websites and reviews, just things to think about within the realm of video game critique.

PGA Tour Golf: Is it time for a change?

I've been playing PGA Tour Golf games since 1990 on the PC. Tiger Woods started endorsing the series in 1999. I've played other golf franchises most notably the
LInks series and Jack Nicholas Golf, but the only game in town now is the PGA Tour franchise. As all of you might know, Tiger Woods' world has unraveled. It makes me wonder if it's time for a non-endorsed PGA Tour Golf game.

Take 2 owns the rights to the Links series, but that's where that story ends and Jack Nicholas Golf has been dead for years. I do miss the competition for my video game golfing dollar. It would feel so different for me to play a PGA Tour golf game without Tiger Woods name on it, hell, it's been a decade of buying at least one game every year. As of now, EA is standing by it's man, but if EA did drop Tiger Woods name, I doubt they would pick another pro golfer to replace him. I guess we'll see if all this blows over, but it's not looking good for Mr. Woods right now.  PGA Tour Golf 11 or maybe EA's PGA Tour Golf 11 or ...

My Wife got a new Laptop.

It sucks, well, for playing games. It's a Gateway NV78 and the specs aren't worth mentioning. It does have a camera. I can make videos. We'll see.

The Video Game Coalition

No Caption Provided

The spectrum of gaming consoles and its brethren has changed. The perception of what a game can be played on has changed. Why the hate? Someone decided to add generations to our gaming habits. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and so on and so forth until we are now told that we are on the the 7th generation of gaming consoles. Why? Who did this? Fuck you?

If it plays a game, what does it matter? From the early beginnings until now, they all do nothing but play video games. I've never understood why this is. Moore's law can kiss my sorry video gaming ass. Moore's law does not translate into how video games should be made or held to its high standard of attrition.

Why the labels? PC gamer, Console gamer, Handheld gamer... What the fuck ever gamer... they all play video games.

Look around people, the colors are ever changing... in flux, go with the flow, ignore, participate or get the fuck out.

My name is Claude, and I'm a member of the Video Game Coalition.
