Secondly: If you were to find out Bianca consulted on a game you guys were going to cover, would there be an additional statement from you? I know you've said you'll try to not dig into what she's doing so you don't have that kind of information, but sometimes life goes in weird ways and you find out things about people you live with that you didn't intend. Like maybe on a Beastcast just a quick "By the way, I found out Bianca did some consulting work on this game" before you guys dive into it?
Thirdly: Razor is an adorable dog and the entire reason I have an Instagram account.
Fourthly: Thanks for sharing Dan. This kind of stuff is important. (Although I trust Jeff "Fired-for-his-ideals" Gerstmann to keep you guys in line with these things.)
Have a great day duder!
Thanks for the kind words! To answer your "secondly" question, I won't ever be able to talk about the things she's working on. She's told me that the company keeps their project involvement under wraps, and that's something that they promise the publishers that they work with. So no, there won't be disclaimers every time I'm talking about something she may have been involved with. I wanted to put this general disclosure out here so everyone knows about her position.
I agree with your third and fourth points as well. Razor is god damn adorable, and this stuff (the disclosure stuff) is important. I know that my words can influence purchasing decisions for fans of the site, so I want people to know I'll always be honest no matter who I may know that's involved with a game. Hell, my longtime friend and former roommate works on the WWE 2K games, and I've never been shy about those games being awful. The best man at my wedding works for Capcom, and I think Monster Hunter sucks. I may not be able to give disclaimers whenever we're discussing something she may have worked on, but you can be sure I'll always be honest about what I'm talking about.
I guess the question would be; which games/developers/publishers that could cause a conflict of interest.
Bianca can't disclose the companies she's working with. She'll be working with various publishers through this job, and it'll be on a contract basis. So it won't be like "She works on games published by _____," it'll just be whatever her contract is at a given time.
Photo modes differ per game on the PS4, but you can set it up so that pressing the Share button once just immediately takes a screenshot.
Yeah, I have it set that way. The thing that annoys me is the process of getting to them. Every time I take a picture, I hit the PS button, scroll all the way to settings, then have to look through that giant list and try to remember which thing it's in. System storage management? Application data management? My PSN profile page? It's annoying.
With the Switch, it's an instant confirmation of the screenshot (PS4 usually has a second or so delay), and then it's super quick to get to my album and look at the picture or upload it.
I'm sure Mario Odyssey is a good sequel to Mario Sunshine, but Dan Ryckert doing the review, who is clearly a Nintendo fanboy, takes away a little of its credibility. Sorry, Dan. One thing Nintendo constantly have in their favor, is their ability to make great first party games. I might get a Switch after all.
