In regards to the Clone vs Stormtrooper thing, I personally always kind of assumed that it was just a uniform change. That Clone troopers dropped their armor and started wearing Imperial Stormtrooper armor because of regulations.

I had hoped for an improvement of the gameplay loop, because I got tired of it at the end of the first game as well. I feel like things could be improved if they give you more guns and ammo in the endgame.

Also, I don't know about the story. Does everything really need to be so dour?

I don't think Likes are supposed to be revealed to be meaningless by the end, I'm pretty sure that they are the economy of the game. You can give them out, you can receive them by other players, but at the end of the delivery run, Sam is rewarded with a Score and a bunch of Likes. No dollar value.

If you think about how clout and influence is treated today, it's honestly already to a point where it has starting to become a more valuable commodity than money. In a post-apocalyptic futuristic wasteland, it's a much more realistic currency than bottle caps.
