The more I put this into perspective, the more this looks like a huge (insecure) overreaction.
You're RIGHT, but it's also a totally normal thing for people to do. People really want VR to do well, to the point that they've invested some ego into it. Fans of a thing tend to lose their rationality when they perceive that thing as being threatened.
I have no investment in VR, really, so I just think it looks like a bad Photoshop.
Oh, I know. It's understandable. I'm sure Jeff's tone in this is only half serious, anyway.

I felt that way as soon as I seen this GB article. I mean the image is goofy but good lord "they're killing this thing before it's even getting started" hahaha. Comes off as super douchey to me.
Douchy isnt the right word for it, IMO. Thats going pretty far. It just comes off as something Jeff typed up quickly without much thought put into it. Which I wouldnt mind normally, but this a bit more nuanced than that kind of reaction warrants.
The mobile version of the site is a lot worse. And not just for finding some of the E3 stuff. For example, its impossible to find an archived premium podcast in that section, because it only displays the latest one. I have to do a google search. There's a lot of pretty bad design decisions on this website that need to be looked at.
This makes a lot of sense (on its face) for Microsoft, but I extremely doubt this is going to work well for a VR headset, with enough people giving a shit. Especially when you have to stream the Xbox games through a virtual theatre. A good move in the eyes of a large company that needs to catch up.
This isnt going to go great unless they can figure out latency. Even if they do, there's the way you'll be streaming them.
