I would hope they get around to giving this a look and discussing it on the podcast or something. I'm ashamed to say that I've only just read up on the TPP this morning. This thing has serious and far reaching consequences.

I feel like the fact that there's no posts in this thread is a good indicator that a lot of people aren't aware of this thing, but if they were aware of the details, there'd be a large amount of outrage. This appears to be even bigger than SOPA, but they did a good job of keeping it secretive..

@euantor: Definitely. It's under active development, and should be ready relatively soon (tm). The reason it's taking so long, is that it's a change that will affect our whole platform. Essentially the blocker is the extra security and tokenization per user per video in order to protect streams from being shared to non-premium. It involves working with our CDN.

@Coreus: Yes, it is ridiculous. I'm working on this myself, so I can make sure it goes out. The reason it's an issue now is that the original youtube option was built on the old youtube API that didn't have html5 fallback support.

@giganteus: Before that :)

Good to hear. Thanks for the work you all do.

@jslack: is there any chance live streams might go HTML5 at some point? I don't run Flash at all so I always catch the archives of live streams instead of watching them live.

Indeed. Still waiting for this to come to fruition. Hopefully in the next two years lol.

They took down the imitation and rescinded that announcement, but ingsoc.org is still going. Also there's this tweet. I dont want to keep following this, but i cant look away.

Edit: Nvm, guess its bullshit. Oh well, it was amusing.

The console versions are at 27GB, but there's 6GB missing from the PC version.

Likely nothing. Or they're hiding something from people who can poke around on the PC. I'm getting invested.

@rydemption: The creater of ProjectOmega567ch said it's his fanmade ARG. It has no connection to Ingsoc.

For me, the only thing still keeping this a slight possibility of being real is the mission 51 WTC shot.

This is almost certainly nothing. For one thing, the countdown timer is set by reading your local time on your computer. Go ahead and try it; set your date and time at the control panel then go and search the site. That alone is very amateurish.

Also, the countdown ends at 4:20 on 9/11. I think this is a bush-league impostor that has been catapulted to stardom by coincidences.

What's your timezone? It ends on 8:20pm EST, not 4:20.

^ Absolutely. One of the most meaningful characters I've played alongside with in a game. She literally completed a boss fight with several baddies for me once. Took out all of 'em.

It's bold that they were willing to do that. Personally, I like it. The sense of loss of a meaningful character wouldnt have hit as much if you could still use her in gameplay. I got legit sad, because I had some amazing moments with that character. Glad they had the balls to do it. Yet, I'd also be happier if they didn't.
